this is a deal someone thought up on fatwallet, didnt see it here, so i'm sharing the wealth :)

staples has the Diamond Rio 300 for $291.49

massmerchandise has a special sale until thursday with the Diamond Rio 300 on sale for $99

pricematch massmerchandise at staples, and if needed remind the ordering guy to go back to the homepage to see that they are having a special FREE SHIPPING special.

add something to go over $100 and use the $30 off $100 coupon.

after tax, my total was $76. there is a rebate for this player for $50 off, which brings final cost down to $26.

hope i did this right! long time deal leecher, first time contributor :)

Can't believe Staples wants to charge $291 for that thing. Good deal.

FYI, I did get my RIO 300 rebate. Took the stated amount of time. Your mileage may vary.

is 7 min on the phone lots of work? and 5 min to fill out rebate. 1 min to put on stamp, and 1 min to cut up UPC

i still think its pretty good......maybe i can sell it on e-bay :)

Two different CSR's said no on the pricematch because:

1. The manufacturer numbers don't match up...
2. ...possibly because the massmerchandise one doesn't come with headphones (as the 2nd CSR stated)?

I could use some ammo for these CSR's.

they DO match up

the headphones are on both. if you look at teh list of what is included, it says something like "high-quality headphones"

dont say you want to use coupon before the pricematch

just try again......i got through, so did a few of my friends.

whoops.........sorry about not telling you about the ending of coupon. either wait for a new one and hoep one starts before thursday, or you use $40 off $200 coupon first and THEN pricematch. if you get a REAL nice guy, he'll still honor the $40, and i get it for around $15!

ok....i just checked......there is still a $25 off $100 and a $25 off $75. might as well pay $5 more adn not have to add anything to "boost" your purchase over $100. so total will be: $74+tax -$50 rebate= $24+tax

Hey guys,

I got this for $25 way back when it was actually a decent player. I can't believe i wasted my valuedollars on it. I was dissatisfied from the first day I had it. 32 megs of memory is a real hassle. The sound quality is not that great and the player feels cheap and can easily break. Therefore, in my opinion, it's not even worth $25.

by the way, I DID get my rebate from Diamond. Good deal post, of course, but the player is not good at all.

Oh my God! The MSRP was $199 on these things when they very first came out!!! How on earth does Staples expect to sell ANY at the price they have listed?!

I am tempted because my valuedollar rio 300 was stolen ($25 with free leather case)... but I would rather get the 500. Is that also on sale?

DANG IT!

got a call from staples today. item showed in stock but did not end up in the warehouse. AAARRRGGG!

maybe i can get a manager to give me the rio500 in place of the 300 since their original staples price was only $9 apart.....(i suddenly have a birthday party to attend next week :D)
