I have been wanting to get my wife some diamond earrings for her birthday, but I'm conflicted.

I don't think I could spend more than $500-$600, but if that amount won't buy a good size/quality set, I'd rather get her something else this year.

I saw a nice 1ct set on Amazon, but they were about $800. Do you have any recommendations on where to get a set in my price range?

Also, fast shipping would be a plus as her birthday is on Saturday. (Yes, I know I've taken too long to figure this out.)

Go fake... I bought my wife some 1.5 CT each Diamondnique from QVC and she gets soooo many compliments on them. The only problem is that they are almost too big so as not to be believable. Total cost was <$100.

In this economy being frugal is sexy. Just don't lie to her.

You're gonna get what you pay for.

If you can't afford the size you want in quality stones, go down in size before you go down in quality.

Crappy stones look crappy.

She's not gonna be happy with a pair of "diamonds" that look cloudy and opaque.

Remember the "4 C's."

I've bought my wife lots of jewelry over the years. Earrings are something you can get by with slightly lower clarity IF the color and cut are good.
In a ring, you want as high of quality as possible because most women show their rings off to friends...and they usually get up close when they look. Earrings, not so much.
VS2 can be a decent earring quality, but you'll want a stone in a color that's not too yellowish or brownish, decent cut, and sized to your budget.

If all you can afford is 1/4 ct earrings, (12.5 points each) but they're good stones, she'll love them more than a pair of 1/2 ct earrings (25 pts each) that are crappy stones.

IF you opt for cubic zirconia or one of the other fake diamonds...make dammed sure she KNOWS they're fake...otherwise, when she finds out, (and she will find out) you're gonna be in deep shit.

www.pricescope.com <--- start there. Many other sites are linked with discounts.

You can get a feel for the cost of the gemstone, then figure on settings.

JamesAllen.com was pretty reasonable for my last purchase of around $4000.

Conflicted? Get conflict free diamonds! WAKKA-WAKKA

For earrings, go CZ for sure, assuming she's OK with that. Earrings are probably the most lost piece of jewelry.
