Diamond 3870 $129.99 OTD $114 AR Newegg

What's up with the one year warranties? That is one problem I have with a lot of Radeon card vendors. If this were a VisionTek, I'd buy in.

But, yes, great deal on an HD3870. Thanks for posting.

Nice, I've heard Diamond is iffy with rebates but luckily this is a small one. I'm still waiting for a 9600gt drop, but this is no doubt a good deal.

Man, this is sweet. If you're one of the guys that thinks a driver fix can correct the Radeons poor AA performance, then this is a great deal.

anyone with a x-fire intel board can get uber-fast crossfire for $229 bucks now! Like the 9600GT sli deal, yet you don't need an Nvidia Board!!!

i bit this morning when it was still 130. now i'm almost glad i did.

i also picked up an accelS1 rev2 to stick on it (i'm a fan of the fanless.... 😛)

someone tell me i didnt do wrong!?!?

🙂

You didn't. It's a fine card at a good price... I don't really see the point in upgrading the cooling (could have bought a MSI 8800gt with that cooler installed for ~ what I suspect you're paying, cooler cost spoils the deal imho).

Without AA it's a few percentage pts faster than the 9600GT which costs ~$110-150 these days. With AA it's slower, but still competitive in most games.

Upgrading the cooler is REALLY not worth it though. That same/similar cooler (stock one on the card) runs my 8800gts just fine and Im pretty sure the 3870 is a lot cooler than a 8800gts.

i'm doing it for other reasons. i'm a fan of fanless, and the way my case is set up, i should be able to get away with it.

i got it at amazon.com.. the price wasnt great, but i was looking for something to spend my $20 gift card on. (i got a $20 dollar gift card for participating in some test evaluating my school's accreditation)

Don't worry, you made a fine decision especially since you wanted to go fanless. I too would pay a bit more for a quite machine.
