Dial-Up vs LAN Internet access conflict

I am running W98SE on my old laptop because it does not have the horsepower or memory to up grade it to XP. As I only use it for portable internet access at home and email when traveling, it suits my needs perfectly.

I usually access the internet via my LAN and DSL connection. Last week I used a dial up connection for a single log in while away from home. Now, every time I try to access the internet, it insists on using the dial up connection. I cannot get it to access the internet via the LAN.

Does anybody have any suggestions how I can take control over this thing and tell it which connection I want it to use and when I want it to use it? I will be doing quite a bit of traveling over the next few weeks so I will have a need to use both dial-up connections in hotels and DSL when at home. Please help.

Pull down the Tool menu in the Browser (I.E) click on Internet Options. Choose the Connection tab and check the DialUp when ever Network Connection is not Present.

Some time it does not work. In such case check the Never Dial a connection.

When you want to use your modem do not start the Browser. Open the DialUp Networking and double click on the DialUp adapter (you can make a link to it on your desktop) to start a direct dialing.

When the Dialup connation is established open the Browser.
