Dial up netoworking connection keeps popping up

I will try to explain this as best as possible.

To connect to my schools wired LAN, we had to set up a network connection that uses our school ID and password.

The problem is, the "connect to network" for my school keeps popping up all the time when I am not at school, and connected at home. When it does so, the computer will not allow any internet access until I click cancel. This happens as often as every few moments, then goes away for a bit, then comes back.

Short of deleting the network connection for my school, I have no idea how to make it stop.

This is on a copy of Windows Vista 32 SP1, with all updates installed.

I would go into network connection properies and disable the school network connection when at home. Disable home connection when at school.

In Internet Explorer, click on the Tools menu, then Internet Options. In the Internet Options window, click on the Connections tab. Select the option labeled "Never dial a connection" then click OK to save the change. After that, Windows/IE will not try to use the the school connection unless you open the login screen for the connection manually.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't use Internet Explorer, I use Firefox, so I'm not sure how to make the above changes in Firefox.

It doesn't matter which browser you normally use. You need to make the change in Internet Explorer or in the Internet Options applet in the Control Panel.
