ok...ive decided from advice from modus...to get a dial up modem based on the lucent lt chipset...but where do i get one...i looked on pricewatch but the place i found wants 10 bux just to ship it!! plus, ive never even heard of the place...so, where should i get one???

You can even try eBay; just do a search in the Modems section, set to check both titles and descriptions. There's plenty there with the Lucent LT chip, and they aren't too expensive either.

I would go with a Diamond Supraexpress 56e external serial modem. I used around 7 different modems in the past 3 years and this one is my most favorit been using it for close to a year now. Works great in games.

I would go with a supra unless I could find a deal on a 3com gaming modem which are also nice. Of course Zoom modems are also nice but I tried both the external and interal ones and I still like the Supra the best.

If you decide to go with a Supra make sure it a serial modem.

I find them locally at Best Buy and Circuit City. You have to read the box carefully and sometimes they don't even say anything at all about the chipset.

They are usually the least expensive models on the shelves. And usually in the plain looking boxes. Usually around $19.

I took his advice long ago, and have had excellant results with them. The only problems I have had are compatability problems with different ISP's. Some modems just don't play well together.

I put them in customers systems with the understanding that if they get slow connect and download speeds that they will need to go to a pricier modem.

I've purchased 3 Lucent LT modems from 1st Class Technology (as seen
in Pricewatch). They're about $10 plus $10 shipping.
They're great modems...........Greg
