I have a ModemBlaster PCI Flash56 DI5630-4 modem. It used to connect as high as 53,333. Now it connects at 48,000. All the time. I've tried dialing into to different number and a different ISP. I checked all the phone wires. (Modem is less than 10 wire feet from Verizon installed box inside the house) I even check the wire going to the box outside. Another PC in the house with a really el-cheapo modem connects faster. What could have changed (software-wise) to cause this? This started about 3 weeks ago. The only thing I know I ran/installed that might have affected this is the Windows XP Upgrade advisor (it seems to have started around this the time I ran the tool.) I've checked the "Only connect at this speed" box and it's set to 57,600.
Anyone else experience something similiar. (I should have cable modem is about 2 months, at least according to Comcast...)
