Diagonal lines monitor when changing to 85Hz at 1024x768

Hi. When I change my refresh rate from 75Hz to 85Hz at 1024x768, I get diagonal lines on my display. The lines are grayish in color and sort of "rains." What's the problem? I have a Viewsonic A70 CRT. Video card is a Geforce MX Integrated.

Is there an electic fan or any other variable magnetic field source next to the monior

Well, I usually put my cellphone, alarm clock, and panasonic shaver next to it, but they've been they have always been there. And it's making this "buzz" sound when it's on. Is this an indication that it's about to go? Monitor is about 4 years old.

If It's making a buzzing sound when it does this .. try vacuuming inside the monitor and still try rmoving All possible appliances that may contain any sort of magnetic fields. Such as battery chargers. Shavers, Fans.. large unshielded speakers...
