Diablo Question

I was wondering if single_0.sv located in C:\Diablo is my saved game. Could I put single_0.sv on a floppy, take it to a friends house that has Diablo and put the file in C:\Diablo. Then when I start up Diablo it will show my saved game...?

Nope, your saved games are in the save directory. There are 5 or 6 files that should all start with whatever your character's name is so copy all of them to a floppy.

Depending on how far you've progressed into the game will determine how many files you need to copy, so just copy everything with your name.

The only true file you need to copy is the charname.d2s. I belive the other files are maps and others. They are redynamically generated. You can copy all your files and move the game over to another computer and have the same maps.
Or you can just copy that one file and get new maps.

prodigy and Gatsby: I believe he's referring to the original Diablo and not Diablo 2, in which case, there would be a file named single_0.sv I wish I could help, but I do not know how the save files work in Diablo. The only thing I could suggest is copy that file and see if you can install Diablo on another machine, paste the file into the correct folder and see if it works. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but ya never know.

I am talking about the orginal Diablo. Well I copied single_0.sv over to his C:\Diablo, loaded Diablo and it found my saved game.

I thought he meant D2 as well, until I looked in my Diablo folder and found it. Plus it's rare to hear of someone still playing old skool Diablo now that D2 is out.....I can't bring myself to go back to the original after getting addicted to D2 🙂

actually i think i read in the updates that the patch for version 1.08 moves the saved games into a save directory.

oops i read that wrong:

<< [PC Only]. Multiplayer character files are now located in the Diablo directory. These files are visible, more descriptively named, and may be moved from one computer to another >>

sorry..
