Diablo III hacks released...

Why is there so much surprise over this ?

You cannot stop the hacking/botting of online games. WoW is full of bots and SC2 has tons of maphackers. FPS games have tons of aimbot/wallhackers.

It is what it is and it sucks, but can't be stopped.

The sad thing is that people want to do these things. How pathetic must their real lives be?

All those who hack want control over their games when they can't have control over their lives. They do it because they derive pleasure from it or are just idiots. Of course we care because then they do it in multiplayer which affects those who don't have these issues...

is that why I keep getting pwnd?
Or is it some other reason?

I doubt it's THAT psychological, they do it because they can.

I don't condone it, but other people do it, it is annoying, especially in PvP or in a combat/FPS game.

The business of HACKs and the Busines of selling counterfiet goods = very lucrative and may be financing a 'criminal" organization... difference is conterfieters get a slap on the wrist with little or no jail time... Hacker creaters selling hacks to kids and noobs just rake in cash and not get punished at all - laughing all the way to the bank...:'(

map hacking and botting isn't surprising

all Blizzard can do against that is set up Warden to detect those types of hacks quickly

the bigger concern is whether things like duping or item/character stat modification becomes possible. if Blizzard

I don't expect Blizzard to be able to stop map hacking or botting, but I do expect Blizzard to prevent duping & item/character modification from happening especially with real money AH being a part of D3.

however, if gold actually becomes a standard commodity used in D3 (which definitely seems plausible with AH), then botting could really screw up gold value but I guess that's only important if gold becomes valuable enough to have a conversion rate with real money.

I wouldn't be surprised if botting/using hacks becomes more popular now that you can sell things for real money on the AH.

This is why I love Dota2 and Hon. Honeslty the only games I have played online that seem to have no hackers. I love me some FPS games, but damn they are littered with hackers

Not surprised.

Some hackers do it because they have nothing else to do (pathetic, but hey, it happens), some do it because they're paid to do it, some do it because it makes them feel special. I mean it won't stop tomorrow or anytime soon, Diablo III will be hacked, although I guess it will be very difficult to do so, but not impossible.

That's why it shouldn't require on-line connectivity to play it, for those who would prefer to play it entirely off-line without having to deal with hacks and bots. I hope that at the very least we'll be able to password our own created game and that we'll be able to play alone even if we're on-line, that would be the bare minimum.

in D3 beta, when you start a game, it is solo and you can choose to open it up to the public from the settings options or not

With everything server side, I seriously doubt that item duping is going to be possible. With a real money auction house, I'm sure botters and gold farmers are going to flock to this game.

I can't get to the post from work but is there any proof of it actually working? I mean I could rename notepad.exe to D3_MH_by_ZilloXxX.exe and make fake release notes for it if I cared to.

Though frankly without their security installation in place it wouldn't be surprising if it was real, it'd be like BF without Punkbuster.

But if I was in Blizzard's position I would have left the beta client quite 'open' and basically taken the opportunity to have a trial run at hack detection and methodology with no consequences.

This is why single player games > *

Or actually, the multiplayer games where you are just playing with friends > *

Soon as you start mingling with the general public you end up disappointed. Even without hackers they just generally behave like smacktards.

there are hon maphacks

I dont think that is correct. HoN maps are all server side, your pc doesnt know where anything is until that information is sent to it from their servers. AFAIK, map hacks are not possible in HoN. You have proof?

Hacking will never stop till they get rid of cd keys. Currently with BF3 or Diablo 3 they just random generate keys, so it makes it look like a legit game anyways, so no matter if you ban by key, they just log back in with another.

I think AA cheat group in BF3 said they have about 10k keys each to use. lol

SInce most anti-cheat software is only updated every now and then they get free reign.

No, I don't, but I'm 99.9% sure I saw one over a year ago. Maybe I'm full of shit, I was pretty sure.

Solid newb question...will this affect single player in any ways?
If not, i'm buying the game if yes, not dolla bills for Blizzard.
