Hmmmm, I haven't played this game in about 2 years.

Is there anything about this patch that will make me want to play it again?

Yep... they are cleaning... I had a bugged sorc that is now nude. I knew it was going to happen so I'm not upset about it or anything. I'll be playing on the ladder anyway, so having a sorc with 33 - 55 skill points in all skills isn't going to help me any. I am excited about using my character with the full sets I have. I'll be a necro/vampire.

A friend of mine just kept on buying crap off ebay. I know he lost well over $100 today. I can't say too much though... I probably lost around $50.

Might be interesting to play through again, I've recently finished Frozen Throne so I'm looking for something to occupy my time :)

I never got around to buying D II, since single-player D1 was such a click-fest (fun though). Is there any more tactics or role-playing in the single-player D II than in the first one?

If I spend enough time catching up on old games I missed I can wait to upgrade my P3-933 until HL2 and Doom3 are out :)

Not really...its more of the same but the new characters, skill trees, allies, huge array of items (i.e. uniques, magicals, sets, ethereal etc) all add to the interest. Certainly worth playing especially since you can now pick it up on budget.

I've played around in 1.10. Here's the rundown:

- NO MORE HACKS AND DUPES! Finally, the realms are clean (at least for now).
- New Items
- New Quest (You get a +1 to all skills rune!)
- New Runeword Combinations
- Ladder system that resets every 6 months
- New Diablo 2 Clone is so freaking hard! I was with several other level 90's, and we got killed by it! It has 95% resist all, including PHYSICAL!

Ah, gotta love it! I've played it like crazy since it came out. Got a lvl 70 Necro.

More info here:

This patch is the biggest update to a game I've ever seen. It's "half an expansion" as one Blizzard employee put it.

If you're looking to get back in the game, make sure you do Ladder characters.

Ladder makes Diablo II online like Blizzard intended it to be: A place where every character's equipment is different. Because it only lasts 6 months, there won't be thousands of grandfathers, windforce's, etc. floating around. People will use what they can find, not trade to get the "usual" items. People will use magic items, and unique items really will be unique.
