is it true that there's also no real money AH on the console version?

that would probably solidify my buying it for my xbox.

There's no AH at all. The drops are also significantly buffed, so you'll get plenty of insane loot in a relatively short amount of time.

it went from farm for gear to farm for gold or gear to sell to get other gear
not really much different
the only thing that really changed it was the RMAH where you could just buy gold

reviews of the console versions seem pretty decent so far

Can't wait to see the first CM Wizard on console! I guess if you use an arcade stick, you might be able to plink your way to perma freeze!

I went ahead and got it on gamefly on Xbox, and it showed up today which surprised me. I am going to check it out and if I like it then I will buy it.

maybe I'm just an old fuddy-duddy, but yeah... I think there's a different feeling entirely of running through a dungeon hoping for great loot rather than grinding out gold or paying a few dollars so you can buy all the best gear in the game on the AH.

Even with the AH being present, your ability to do that is not diminished at all. If you entirely ignore the AH, you can live in that bubble. If you browse the AH, but never buy, you're going to be highly disappointed in your drops. The core problem with D3 was the itemization and how the completely random rolls can make or break an item. A bow with STR is a complete waste of a stat (the only STR users can't hold bows).

...and the itemization was entirely designed around the presence of the AH. The new "loot 2.0" system has come from the need to rebalance loot for the AH-free console versions.

loot 2.o just makes it really makes it look like they designed the game around RMAH. they can't do that with the console versions so they needed a new loot system.

it helps but the game still stinks.

I played this for a couple hours last night and I am really liking it. It took me while to get used to the controls, but now I am set.

So... what's the consensus then?

Consoles versions of Diablo 3 are superior to the PC version? Because you can actually play it offline and without RMAH?

Have to admit as a person that bought the game on launch on PC, it disappoints me that I am stuck with the inferior version of the game. Blizzard should really be ashamed of themselves for what they did.

That is not valid. I have the PC version and never even looked into the RMAH. I can still play it.

Edit: I did not read the previous posts and moans about loot drop. Well, I still enjoy it, and play it, without the RMAH.

No because the limited action options and 3rd person view with the ability to move based around moving analog sticks instead of clicking or using digital movement buttons are going to work 100% better on a console. That said if you have gone to the trouble of getting a controller and movement options work on a controllers analog stick on PC's I could see it as not as much a big deal.

I'll be curious to see what people are saying a month from now after they've logged some significant hours maxing a couple characters. After reading a bit about loot drops it almost seems like they made it too good where awesome stuff rains down all around as you're playing.

Some things I'm curious to know now, if any owners here care to chime in, are:

Is there a list of public games that players name and create themselves that you can browse and join (similar to D2)?
Is there in game trading? Or Chat channels for messaging and trading? Or in game chat among your party?
Is their any security at all from Blizzard, or is this like the open bnet days where hacking and cheating is rampant?

I am looking for low cost rackmount atx cases, any ideas on where to look

It's not impossible to cheat on a console, just harder to make hacks and such. It just released so I'm sure people are working on some but hacks are always more exploited on PC games.

Gotta love when the quote button doesn't work correctly lol.

But yeah it is not impossible to cheat on console games. In fact Dragon's Crown has people with hacked items that lock up your game if you get their bones and try to bury them because you will always get the hacked item.

I picked this ups for my PS3 this weekend. It is great so far. I was only able to play for a few hours, but I'm at lvl 11 and have killed the skeleton king. I wanted to get used to the controls (which are fluid and fantastic) before playing MP. Tonight I'm going to try coop. I've built a wizard for my first character and spells look great.

I kind of want to play this on console. I have quite a few hours into the PC version. I really like the UI from what I've seen. I just don't know if I could go back having bad gear though. >_>

seems you can gear up pretty quick. some of the youtubers are already doing UBERS on MP10 or ehatever they call it on the colsole

one of them found a 1700 DPS 1 hander yes 1700 DPS 1 hander

FFS thats insane
