Yes the CE was produced in limited quantities.

I think Blizzard only made 60,000 copies.

Or you can get it from E-bay where it's going up to $92 a piece.

Prior to the game's release they had planned 1.5million copies for launch day. A few days before when they realised how huge demand was gonna be they rushed another 500k copies through the presses. (Standard edition not CE).

Actually, there were 70,000 copies made (read right from the gold label on my Collector's Edition Box). Babbages/EB were selling their initial shipment as Collector's Editions for $59.99. That's quite a smoking deal, considering you get the game, a cinematics DVD, Diablo II expansion rules for D&D 3.0, the soundtrack on CD, and dice. Even $92 isn't asking much, considering the D&D supplements are selling for $20-30 in the store.

The really screwed up part is that at work (Best Buy) we want $59.99 for just the game. Heh...

awwwww. im so sad. i really wish i had preordered it. i saw a collecters editon going for 130$ on e-bay. also all i want is the dvd. i dont play the d&d games. oh well. i should go out and buy d2 but that takes away from my duron. wtf i cant right e_ay?

I walked right into a local store and bought the CE right off the shelf. I guess I was one of the lucky ones...

yes you were lucky...at this stage probably more than 99% of CEs have been sold and since it's a true Colletors Edition it won't be rereleased, ever I'm Glad I picked mine up the day it came out...$54 baragin...as far as the game itself goes...even though the graphics do look a little dated, (I have a 21&quot I've played the game nonstop for the last week. Playing in windowed mode definitly helps (I usually set my res to 1024x768 and the game looks beautiful, although a bit small). All in all this is the best game I have ever played.

Just start the executable with the "-w" option.

Like Diablo II.exe -w in the link in your start menu
