Hmm, real tempting to get back into the game. I haven't played steadily for a couple years, but got bored when I didn't have good people to play with.

Adding me to your list would be "/f add kabob983"

I forgot to add you last night.

I've been trying to do NM magic find runs to get some better gear, less than awesome results (I don't have much MF). I tried to trade for a Skullders Ire last night also with no luck.

Dont' worry, it wouldn't work. I can't seem to get into my old account, so I made a new one under digitalreflex. I'll add you tonight when I get on.

I'm on at random times in the evenings and probably random times on Friday (I'm on a 4 day work week at the moment...).

I play. I can't say I "still" play, though, because I played a lot from 2000-2003, but then not since then until late last year.

Pre-LoD release I played a Paladin, then Assassin when LoD hit shelves. My reboot character from last year is a Barbarian and it does just fine in Hell. In fact, I can mostly sleepwalk through Hell difficulty with Frenzy and Whirlwind.

The ONLY thing that keeps me on my toes is Iron Maiden. One hit with IM and I'm dead instantly. But that just means I have to be careful wherever that's a possibility. Long story short, a well planned/equipped Barb is certainly viable in Hell (I'm only level 83, by the way).

My Diablo 2 account name is the same as these forums.

Pre-LoD and 1.08/1.09 LoD I was always a Paladin, zealot Paladin at that. Most fun class ever. Now it seems that in PvM they're mostly useless which makes me a sad panda... :(

I'll add you tonight.

I quit a while ago. I gave away my CD Keys, all my FG(Only 257), and all my accounts with the guys... Sigh... Never going to play that time sink again.

Actually once you have a hammerdin and your bot set up you don't really have to : )

I'm aware. But you also can get banned for botting. That's why I didn't do it because they had Warden on.

I am skeptical of that.

Me too, but I have seen amazing things done that way before, just excluding the Ubers, with good teamwork and proper focus (targets priorities mostly) I believe that it can be done, for a simple reason that the party consists of all the game's classes, which means that basically there's no monsters immune against at least one attack coming from the group, especially thanks to the Necro's curses, one of them removing most monsters immunities (not all however).

It can be tough, but as much as it looks impossible I say it can be done, with lots of dedication. And let's not forget about the random nature of the game, one run can have hundreds of Stygian Dolls and Souls and Oblivion Knights coming at you and slaughtering you, and the next could have Rakanishus or Serpents or Maggots, you never know for sure what enemy types and in what number you'll be facing, maybe they had some luck as well.

The real challenge of course comes from Uber bosses and Uber Tristram, which all have the same enemy types all the time, but that can also be an advantage since they should know exactly how to counter them with no unexpected enemies thrown in, they surely made a lot of trials and errors tests prior to accomplishing that, and if they really did it then all I can say is «good job guys!».

I am skeptical of that.

there are videos included in the link that shows them clearing the ubers and uber tristram. Apparently they had to restart twice after a sorc died on 2 seperate attempts. It looks pretty legit to me, at the very least the uber kills in the videos look legit.

We only see one persons inventory. They all could have been str glitched or been on a fake realm server(Which do exist and can be made to look and act exactly like real realms)... Plenty of video magic could be done too.

I'm still skeptical.

is there any real need to play online? I play every now and then but not enough to keep my char from being deleted.

No there's no "need" to play on-line, but if you want to I would wait until the next patch and Ladder Season, but no one knows when that will happen.
