Diablo 2 Lockup

After about 10 minutes of playing diablo 2, i hear a beep, like a windows error beep, and the game freezes. I found out that if I press enter after I hear the beep, the game exits. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I am playing Diablo 2 with glide on my Voodoo 5. I think that there is an error message, but since i cannot alt-tab to minimize the game, i cannot see the error message. HELP!!! I wanna play diablo 2!!!

I had a different problem with my voodoo 5 and diablo 2, it was video related though. I switched from GLIDE to Direct 3d and it fixed all the problems.

I tried Direct X and i found that i don't get the same problem, but it's alot slower. Is there any way I can get glide working?

Try gettign updated drivers for your Voodoo card? Worse comes to worst, play in Direct Draw mode.

I know that there was a bug that caused lockups like you describe with TNT 2 video cards, but I haven't heard of this one on Voodoo 5's. I don't know why, but strangly, most games that run glide seem to run more stable (but not faster) in Direct3d or in OpenGL on my WinME machine.

i was getting the same error...during the cinematics right before the game menu loads the screen flickers a couple times and dumps me back to my desktop. Try, installing the newest patch, i think its 1.08 and see if that helps. It solved my problem...
