Diablo II (Hex Cheat) What's a Hex Cheat?

Hex Cheat (Stash)
WARNING: Always make a backup of your savegame before edititng!

To modify the amount of gold contained in your "Stash", do the following:

1) Try to put at least 1000 gold in your stash. This cheat will work with smaller amounts, but you may be limited on how much you can add.

2) Load your game. Record the amount of gold in your stash. Exit from game.

3) Load a Hex Editor and convert your gold to HEX. Open the file savegame.d2s (savegame will be the name of your character) in your Diablo 2 save folder.

4) Search for the HEX location (from converted amount of gold). Modify the HEX location to FFFF (or any amount in HEX that you wish - up to 65000). Save the file.

5) Re-load your Diablo 2 savegame and you will have 65000 in your stash!


Well I dont get it. It was posted on gamexperts.com

This is how far I went.

I had 6413 in gold then i converted to hex 190D


Afterwards I downloaded hackmaster and hex workshop and i dont know what to do next.

In hackmaster i tried the go to and find command but could not locate 190D

what am i suppose to do next im really getting irritaed. Someone help. and if you know where i can get material to learn about hex editing id really appreciated.

2. why dont you just get a trainer instead of soing that hex iditing stuff?

Why cheat with an open character? And why go through so much trouble to do it? Don't you know, after normal difficulty, gold is absolutely worthless except for gambling and skull trades?

Look guys I dont wish to discuss the merits of cheating. Actually i am fascinated with this hex editing stuff and i want to know how to do it-just because.

Do you guys even know what a hex editior is and have you even used one before I want to start learning this thing. As i said before are there any tutorials on the net or books i can buy.

And this diablo2 cheat thing seems to be a great way to at least get my feet wet.

to my knowledge, using hex editor to cheat is kinda test and trial. i don't think you need a tutorial to teach you how to convert the decimal value to hex, search the hex value in hex editor then change the hex value to 'ff''s... i used to use hex editor to cheat a long time ago on dos games. there's no point of using hex editor to cheat anymore.. since internet is so popular and you can pretty much download game editor/trainer everywhere..
