Diablo 2 Expansion Copy Protection?

Ok this is a legit question...does anyone know what kind of CD protection the Diablo 2 expansion cd is running? I tried making a backup of my recently purchased (go Walmart )using CloneCD and while everything installed properly, the backup copy will not play.


Also, CD Detector could not identify the type of protection either.


I'm using Clone CD 2.5.xx on a plextor PX-W1210A Win2k service pack 2.

Any help would be appreciated

Well according to the readme in the ISO version of the game it says the protection is 'Sony SecuROM'.

I ran into a few CDs lately that I was unable to burn using all my tools of the trade Maybe this Sony protection is why...any info on how to do it yet?

Its possible that this a new version of serurRom. So far the only solution I've heard of is through an unpacked game.exe via the unsecuROM crack.

I'd still like to hear if anyone has found a way to backup via 1:1 cd copy. Cracks make me anxious.

I purchased the expansion as well. I backup all my titles not because I need to but because I like the challenge, then I destroy them if it is succesful I have some mixed results on this expansion. I tried Blindread/Blindwrite and I was able to successfully make a backup. I also made an exact backup using CloneCD 3 but with some irregularities...i.e. not able to work on my sons computer, only mine??? I am thouroghly confused because these backups would only work after restarting my computer. And neither work on my sons computer so I guess they are not 'completely' perfect backups ay? I wish I had some answers... I do know that this is fact:

Is there a sep serial for the expansion, or does it share a serial with the origional?
