A local school employee said a rough run-in with a couple of
Homeland Security officers has left him with a strong sense of insecurity.

Leander Pickett, a teacher's assistant at Englewood Elementary, said he was manhandled and handcuffed by two plain clothed Homeland Security officers in front of the school Tuesday for no reason at all.

"I would like to treat people the way I would want to be treated, and yesterday I wasn't treated that way," Pickett said.

Pickett has been working at Englewood for two years, and his principal and colleagues told Channel 4 they have never met a harder worker or nicer guy.

"He's well loved by everyone because he's willing to do anything to help children," said the Englewood Elementary Principal Gail Brinson.

However, Tuesday afternoon Pickett's niceness turned to anger, disappointment, and betrayal when, as Pickett was directing bus traffic, he said he was handcuffed and roughed up and humiliated by the very people that were supposed to protect him.

"I walked up to him and said, 'Sir, you need to move.' That's when he said 'I'm a police officer. I'm with Homeland Security ... I'll move it when I want to.' That's when he started grabbing me on my arm," Pickett said.

However, Homeland Security tells a different story.

The department said the only reason the officers were at the school was because they pulled over to look at a map.

The department also said it's looking into what happened, and that Pickett's version is wrong. It claims he was antagonizing the officers.

Several people were outside of the school, watching the incident take place, and those witnesses agree with Pickett's story.

"Mr. Pickett asked the guy blocking the bus loading zone to move, and the guy told him he would move his car when he got ready to move it," said Englewood coach Alton Jackson.

"At that point I intervened and I went up to the gentleman and said, 'Mr. Pickett is an employee here,' and they said that didn't matter," said Englewood media specialist, Terri Dreisonstok.

"'We're with Homeland Security,' and on and on they went, and pretty soon, before you know it, he's handcuffed and slammed against a car," Brinson said. "All the children are watching, they're all upset."

After about 30 minutes, the men released Pickett.

"The part that really upsets me is all these students were watching, and that and it isn't good," Jackson said.

Pickett said he plans to sue.

"You now you hear these stories everyday and say, 'This will never happen to me,' but yesterday it happened to me," Pickett said.

"If this is Homeland Security, I think we ought to be a little afraid," Brinson said.

The central office of Homeland Security contacted Channel 4 about the incident and stated that it considers all allegations seriously and the matter has been referred to a neutral investigative entity.
I can't imagine those two thick-necked, power-hungry, egotistical asshats will have their jobs much longer. If they do, it only shows how desperate that DHS is to put on a show for American that it's protecting us.

Removed the Trolling Bias in the title (Sexploitation)

Mod

What "Trolling Bias"? Two DHS officials engaging in sexual perversion with minors is a bias now?

edit: btw...you show an obvious irrationality and extreme bias by labelling all of DHS the dept. of Sexploitation just because of the actions of one individual who was not authorized to do what he did by DHS. It makes you look like an irrational moron, in my opinion.

I remember the secret service in Fargo in the late 1990s going to a local bar and starting quite a scene as they tried fighting the biggest guys they could find. Of course they picked on some wrestlers and got ****** smoked and then tried to have the wrestlers arrested for fighting a federal agent or something.

Some of them dont have enough brains to go with the brawn imo.

Those guys need to be removed from whatever farce they are employed by..

That was in Florida.. what more can be expected..

I would have loved to seen those DHS officers get attacked by an angry mob who then turned their car over in the streets and stripped them and told them to run home..

I agree that they work for Dumbya and think they can get away with anything..

what does this have to do with the DHS as a whole? Just as with that sick SOB who tried to solicit sex online, neither case is indicative of the entire organization. Their individual actions were not directed or condoned by the Dept. or Administration. It sounds just like any other example of police brutality which you could point to over the years, in ANY law-enforcement organization.

for the record, I completely condemn the officers' individual actions and hope that corrective actions are taking to ensure that they never do so again; however, leave it to Conjur to make exagerated bullsh*t statements labeling the entire DHS as perverts and powermongers... he's nothing more than a fvcking troll.

In the future, please save the bullsh*t headlines for your worthless blog.

Maybe because they represent homeland security.. (oxymoron). They wear the badge, they collect the check. Sorry horsey, they do represent department of hs. Just like you represent the armed forces. And the cashier at walmart represents walmart.
It's very simple. Sorry you can't see that.
And calling the op a troll and then going further really amplifies your point :disgust:

Might I suggest the DHS spend more time listening in to their own communications rather than that of American citizens?

Seriously these people are pissing me off. That's a heartbeat away from Creedy's black bag goon squad.

I got three words for them.

Sod Off Wankers.

edit: slight correction

Perhaps we should do a quick survey of how many teachers are arrested for these kinds of acts, then we can get Conjur's view of Public Education?

I was referring to the sexual deviation he referred to. Before the mod edited it.

Um, arsebanned, I know you've got your hand down your pants in excitement here, but conjur's original post said "DHS - Dept. of Humiliation and Sexploitation", referencing the recent arrest ...

So here is your prize: :cookie: , and you're right - you are another ignoramus weighing in.

Huh. I guess that's akin to saying that the entire NYPD is on the mob's payroll, since two were convicted of it, right? Save your damned cookies.

See? The bastards ARE spying on me. :p Thanks for the cookie.

In case anyone isn't aware, DHS is responsible for vetting federal childcare workers.

Yes, that is correct.

Go ahead, read it again. Yep. I know... Still there right in black and white.

Reading a map? Pffft, right. More like trolling for booty at the elementary school.

;) :p

I have some very good freinds and colleagues at DHS. People who put their lives on the line 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Every single one of them is out there making sure you have the right to sit at home writing BS posts like this one. Several that I've spoken with recently are just as upset about these incidents as anyone. But NONE of them deserve to be disrespected due to the immature or illegal actions of others within their organization. You DO know how large DHS is, right? You DO know the good work they do, right?

Every single one of them is worth 10 of you. or more. G'damn inconsiderate ungrateful SOB's...

palehourse, you should consider the possibility that you could be right about something without at the same time becoming as completely nuts in having that viewpoint as the people who you see beyond.

You don't understand. This is the new "normal" and will continue everyday.

It is by design that they are de-sensitizing the younger generation to this behaviour so that they will believe it is normal standard operating proceedure.

Welcome to the early 2000's version of 1930's Germany.

I just can't stand seeing so many people consistently disrespecting those of us who are out on the front lines... it irks me like nothing else can.
