No surprise here,
I switched to Fedex some 6 months ago, their ground rates were significantly and consistently lower than DHL. Also the DHL website was crap...

On related note, the Fedex infrastructure is money - last time I got an email to my iphone that the package is delivered before the guy rang my door bell!

Just over a week ago we ordered something from newegg ...

DHL handed it off to USPS ... I figured it was common practice ... maybe the route already transitioned ...

I'm not a big fan of DHL, although they've been ok in my experience, and UPS has as well. FedEx is my favorite, but I don't ship with them much anymore, mostly USPS (although the local post office took out their automated shipping center because they said it wasn't making enough money which irritates me since now I have to go earlier and wait in line). The place I worked at in the spring did like 99.9% of their shipping through DHL though (got special rates because they had a ton of pretty small boxes, so they basically paid ground rates and got 2nd Day service), so I wonder what they're gonna do.

DHL might have been good for some people, but I think they were the least consistent in terms of speed and reliability of the 4 major carriers across the U.S. As long as UPS, FedEx, and the USPS stay in business (and compete well against each other) I'm not going to cry over DHL.

Well i think DHL had a lot of contractors. So a lot of people doing the final delivery were paid liek that and were not full time people.

Their ground service is faster than UPS/Fedex, and I've used them for years. I only had maybe two or three issues with them out of over a thousand packages shipped, but they resolved the issues relatively quickly. I did, however, switch to UPS recently because their rates began to undercut DHL.

I hate DHL. The one package I got from them took something like 5 days to get here, compared to 2 or 3 with Fedex/UPS. And they tendered it to USPS. I hate when they do that.

IMO:
Fedex
UPS
USPS
some deliverty service run by the NFL, NBA, NHL, Premier League, and MLB to employ out of work athletes.
DHL

I never did receive a package from DHL that didn't require me going to their location between 6 and 6:30 (nowhere outside that time)

Makes me glad Purolator (Canada's "main" courier) is majority owned by Canada Post. Can't easily bankrupt a government owned thing...kinda.

I f'n hate DHL. They have the worst most inconsiderate drivers for their shitty little vans. I've been cut off by those fuckers more times than I can remember. I've never had that problem with UPS or Fedex.

I'm glad they are pulling out.

I once had to walk out to there van when it was sprinkling! sprinkling outside. The two women (I guess they need two people to deliver packages) didn't want to get wet.

I'm quite happy that my local DHL people are going to be out of jobs. They are horrible. They stole a package from me and said it was delivered. I was home at the supposed time of delivery and never had a driver show up. I turned in a claim and got a second package with signature required. This one actually showed up and was signed for by my doormat and left there. DHL can DIAF.

I never liked DHL. Horrible drivers, pain in the ass to get packages when they hold them, and they're slow as hell.

Now I just need UPS to go away and I'll be happy. Fuck them and their $50+ "duty fee" when there's no goddamn duty or taxes on an item.
