Hey for some strange reason all of a sudden my dhcp has stop working after my computer crashed. i first thought it was something to do with the crash so i did a system restore..but same problem..

the only way i could get internet working now is to set up a static ip.

does anyone have a clue what could be causing the problem.?? and how i can fix it

btw i am running behind a router to give me the DHCP address. the strange thing is it just stopped work all of a sudden..after the crash..wonder what happened.??

yeah i did that..but the only thing i got something..i forget now..but it bacisally said i cant get DHCP..

ok also i did try the refresh button with the Lan connection and it gave me this error.

The following steps fo teh prpair operation failed:
refreshing all DHCP leases and re-registering DNS names.

i have never seen this message before. strange..

Yeah i reset the modem. no i did not reset to the factory default. i dont see why the modem would suddently act up. i mean it would not make sense. but i'll give it a try. and see

No, not the modem, the router....the modem is working id you have access at all. It sounds like the DCHP server in your router is hung up. Unplug it and plug it back in, you should be in good shape
