Its the only slot that runs at x16 you have to switch to SLI and get x8 in each slot to make the 2nd slot more than 2x

Both slots are x16:

# 2 PCI Express x16 slots
# 1 PCI Express x1 slot
# 1 PCI Express x4 slot
# 2 PCI slots

I've tested it an you're an idiot. A PCI Express x16 slot is a physical description not it what it runs at. Arcanedeath is 100% correct

Idiot? I own the board and run my card in the 2nd slot. It scores the same and performs the same.

Download the online manual and check pages 68 and 69. The slots are x4,x8,N.C.,x8 with the jumpers on pins 2 and 3. x1,x16,x1,x2 with the jumpers on pins 1 and 2.

That's because there is hardly any performance difference between 8x and 16x on current cards.

zebo, i am interested in that mod. How did you secure the hs to the board? just a piece of metel wiht screwholes?

I'm sure that's true but if you check the properties out it will show the slot speed. If you moved the jumpers to enable SLI it will show x8.

I made the piece of metal from the stock HS. Holes were already drilled and fit perfect since it's was designed to fit. then used 4-40 x 1 1/2 in screws to mount and on backside of mobo is a thick rubber washer to give the spring effect then a nut..

If you researched you would know that only aftermarket cooler that can fit under a video card on the Nf4 DFI boards is the Evercool Twinkling VGA cooler:

http://www.jab-tech.com/Evercool-VC-RE-Twinkling-VGA-Cooler-pr-2291.html

Its a VGA cooler but if fits the DFI ultra-D Northbridge.

If you did your research you would realize that all the DFI NF4 boards have a second PCIe x16 slot that he can install his video card in.
Its only a 8x slot on the ULTRA-D which makes little difference, but if I can I like to run my 7800gt on the 16x slot likes its suppose to. (and usually you drop a few hundred 3dmark points)

And whats your problem anyway? You aren't the OP of this thread - why are you calling me out? I wasn't answering your question was I?

The Nf4 heatsink threads have been going on since the mobo came out - its nothing new. check out DFI-street.com

That's as nice as Zebo's... different but nice.

I'll have to hear for myself how noisy that stock fan is when I get my board in (all Zebo's fault that I ended up buying one 😉 ). My current thinking is that I'm going to use it in my gaming rig - which I usually use only at LAN parties with headphones so no big deal if it isn't completely silent. Other option of course would be to run it at PCIe 8X on the lower slot - I have no problem with that.

It's not that loud as chipset fans go.. I just don't like them ..cheap...sometimes whinny..the way they collect dust and thier fail rates. Call it a habit - I've always replaced chipset fans on boards.
