I think the people mainly interested in the DFI board are hardcore gamers and overclockers. 2 PCI slots should be plenty for most because most everything else is available on-board.

I only need two slots on mine, one for a 56k modem and another for my Audigy 2 ZS Gamer.

Here's the price for these mobos.

DFI ----------> $145 shipped from ZipZoomfly

MSI ----------> $149 shipped from Monarch Computer

Chaintech ---> $113 shipped from Newegg

At this point I think I really like Chaintech over MSI and DFI in terms of price and less stability issues. The more I read about DFI board issues at DFI-Street forum less it becomes attractive as 24/7 stable OC mobo. AT least to me. There seems to be a lot of time and effort required to get DFI just to run stable at stock speed.:( Ofcourse there were many great OC stories as well. DFI lovers are saying there's no compatition when it comes to potential OC'ing ability, but if you look at my specs I don't have G. Skill or OCZ mem nor do I have PC Power & Cooling PSU. I just want decent mobo that will allow me to reach 2.4Ghz at 24/7 rock stable with easy quick set-up. :) If you are in need of new mobo and are not familier with DFI mobo I strongly suggest you chcek out DFI-Street forum get comfortable with issues people are having before making your decision on DFI rather than just jump on DFI for it potential OC ability you heard or read about.;)

DFI has issues with certain memory...? Crappola. I was about to put some Corsair XMS LL Pro in them PC3200 or the HyperX PC3700, do either of them have problems with the DFI board?

The MSI and DFI have been selling out since they started shipping and when you start overclocking there are always more variables added to the equation of problems. I'm sure alot of the people using the Chaintech board are running stock settings.

The first thing people are probably doing with the DFI board is trying to overclock it to hell and back lol.

BIOS versions 209 and 217 are suppost to fix the TCCD related issues with the DFI boards.

The first thing I did with my chaintech board (the VNF4 Ultra) was to overclock the hell out of it. I am currently running at 300HTT, which puts my A64 3000+ CPU at 2.7GHZ -- a 50% overclock -- on air cooling no less. I cannot speak for the DFI or MSI boards, but the chaintech (as I can attest) overclocks wonderfully!

i cant say that i didnt have problems with my DFI board. I CAN say that the problems i had with the DFI board was due to my momentary (and only momentary :) ) retardedness at the time. I'm using normal crucial ram and it runs fine. I've seen people post a lot of other ram too. The MSI board was taken into consideration by me too, but the price difference wasnt too great.

Although now the ABit Fatality nf4 board is out, which looks really nice as well. I would consider adding that into your choices.
