Honestly, i don't recommend 4x1 GB on that mobo.

I know the LT is slightly different that my UT, but if you experience anything like i have when trying to run more than two dimms on my UT P35-T2R mobo, believe me, you do NOT want 4x1 GB.

If you want more very bitter details, PM me.

@n7 - interesting... maybe I'll go with 2x2 then... it's no biggie either way. You happy with your Mushkins?

Very.

When tested individually, the worst of my four dimms does DDR2-1080 5-5-5-15.

Together, it's hard to tell for sure what the stable max is since this mobo is not great for running four (actually with three it's crap too) dimms, but for 24/7 i run DDR2-1050 5-5-5-18 with all 8 GB.

That said, as much as i like my Mushkin, i'd likely be suggesting Crucial's Ballistix 4 GB kit. 2x2 GB DDR2-800 4-4-4 one...that one is very good.

Or if you don't mind spending money, the Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 5-5-5 is excellent.

Yeah, I want the DDR2-1066 stuff, but I'm not too keen on that active cooling on the Dominators if that's what you're suggesting. I haven't seen any 2x2 Corsair that lacks that though.

Well, you don't need to use that fan.

I just suggested it because the results i've seen from people OCing it are very good.
I don't like the hair-comb heatspreaders they use either, but again, i don't judge based on looks...performance/overclockability is what i care about.

It depends what you want.

The Crucials seem to clock higher with tCL 4 than any of the good Powerchips 2x2 GB kits do, mainly because i think they're a new Micron IC which handles vdimm & tighter timings a bit better.

That said, for Intel chipsets, the best performance you'll get is always with higher speeds @ tCL 5 & a nice low tRD anyway though...

I am running 4X1gb OCZ Reaper 8500's on my UT and there is no problems I am OC'd to 3.8 running 24/7. You are the first I have heard with that problem. What was happening?

Good to hear.

What bios are you using?

What speed is that RAM at?

I won't go into gruesome details, though i have a retarded amount for hours upon hours of failed attempts.

Basically, with three or more dimms installed, i cannot run anything stably unless ratio/timings to do with RAM is at Auto.

Auto meaning 2:3 all timings auto.

And that's not really fully stable either.

The hilarity of the situation is that everything auto is actually semi-stable, & even at the speeds i presently run (DDR2-1050)
But if i try to run 1:1 underclocked with looser timings than auto sets for my current overclock, it's actually unstable.
And no, i'm not kidding.

There are obviously some subtimings that are not user accessible in the bios that are causing havoc with this RAM.

Anyway, don't want to take this thread off track.

But if you'd like to PM me your settings (particularly for RAM, & i mean subtimings, the whole works), it'd be great.
Not really likely going to help me, since 1 GB dimms are not at all the same as 2 GB ones, & the guys @ XS & DFI forums couldn't tell me anything i hadn't already tried, but it can't hurt.

Thanx.
