By using the SATA connector. do i lose my Primary IDE Slave....

Can i use the RAID slots to run CD roms / burners / DVD.

IF i have 2 drives running a Raid configuration (raid 0), can i still connect CDR or DVD drives to the raid lines....

Heya Slash,

You do lose your Primary IDE channel with the SATA controller in use.

you may use the RAID IDE controller to run non-raid and optical drives.

I am honestly not sure if you can plug in other devices to the RAID while running RAID 0. Let me ask!

Travis

also ask if i can have Multiple Raid 0 arrays.... like

2 120 gig WD's on Raid 0 array A
2 60 gig IBM's on raid 0 array B

Slash,

hola again. Got an answer to part1 of your question:

Travis,

No, The RAID ports only work with IDE H/D. Recently, there is a whole bunch of customers said have problem formatting their H/D on RAID channel. The problem is from the HighPoint driver. The attachment is the latest one. We did verify the solution.

Frank

When he says they only work with IDE/HD, they only work with hdd's when running a RAID config...if you just use them for IDE channels, they work with all IDE devices.

He forgot to send the attachment, so if you need it, let me know and I should have it by morning.

As for the other question, we both believe it is possible, but we are waiting for the lab to tell us yay or nay for sure =)

dbwillis: let me ask the lab nerds in Taiwan if they have anything new or beta they are working on =)

might take a day or so to get an answer!

OK so for my first question the manual answered it.. it says i can have Primary Master Sata, Primary Slave IDE, Secondary Master IDE, Secondary Slave IDE on the main channels

The 2nd one u answerd with Yes i can use optical drives if i dont run RAID

The 3rd question we dont know if we can have 2 raid arrays on one controller yet....

OK hanging in there for the answer to 3

I have a DFI NFII Lanparty. I just tried it again to check, and just as before, the Highpoint BIOS doesn't detect any devices if I put the CDROM and CDRW there. No CDROM or CDRW show up in Windows XP, not in My Computer, and not in Device Manager. So optical drives do not work for me even if there are no RAID or other HDs. The HDs can be either RAID or not.
