Okay?
What the heck is this doing in the Apple forum?

Or did they finally allow people to start building their own from scratch?

It's here because it's Apple-related. Apple did not allow people to start building them from scratch; hackers have come up with patches to let you run it on PC, however. Read this:

My DFI Hackintosh works great. The Kalyway 10.5.1 release installed without a hitch. The only driver I needed to find was for the onboard sound, and that took all of 5 minutes with Google. :)

@bigmacattack, I have had no problems with my sound or any UUID errors. I did get some permissions errors that Disk Utility couldn't repair for some inexplicable reason, but a reinstall solved that problem. It's been running fine for over a week now with all the updates installed.

@Tyranicus: I see that you are using a Kalyway distro. That may be the issue. I am running a retail copy of Leopard.

Is anyone running a retail copy of Leopard?

@roastin nugs: post your sig so that others can see what you have. could be that you have incompatible hardware. too hard to tell without knowing what you have.

BUT DON'T GIVE UP!!

leo 10.5.2 installed from leo4all dvd. didnt select any extra drivers when installing. installed video after with nvinstaller v.41 for my 8800GT 512. resolution changes work great soemtimes tho it doesnt save what i had it set to on a reboot. reboot works, shutdown worked at first(case fans shut off) after installing sound/audio it stopped working right.. lan worked after install. havent tested time machine. weird thing on wake from sleep machine sometimes locks up? still playing with other stuff.

Mine has the lockup on waking issue too, but since I use it as a torrent box and file server, I disabled sleep anyway.

the sleep/ wake issue is well documented. The Gigabyte crowd had the same issues. The new Netkas 9.2.0 kernel is supposed to fix it. Haven't had a chance to test it out.

If you do experience UUID errors when trying to use SuperDuper or other issues when trying to use Time Machine, there is a IONetworking fix that corrects the Time Machine and SuperDuper errors.

FYI the latest Netkas kernel release breaks S3 sleep, so you have to set it to S1 in your BIOS, which is essentially the same as display sleep - the fans still run etc. So it's pretty useless lol.

since my last post, i have reloaded my machine about a million times. Finally got it all figured out. Time Machine, superduper, etc. working great. Reset and shutdown are flaky, but who cares. all updates are on it, MS Office just for kicks...happy as a clam in sand.

The only annoying thing with the Kalyway install (at least the 10.5.1 image I used) is that all the folder icons are 3rd party icons instead of the system defaults. I had to use Candy Bar to fix it.
