DFI Lanparty and Thermaltake issue

Well, I have three burned plugs on the main power connector and the same three are burned on the plug form my Purepower 480W powersupply.

Is it a safe bet to say the powersupply is faulty...it wasnt a problem with the motherboard?

I'd think so, TT PSUs aren't exactly the greatest.

Really? I was just over newegg searching for a PSU and it came down to Thermaltake Toughpower or OCZ GameXStream... They're about the same price for most wattages, do the OCZ PSUs seem more reliable? I trust the folk here at AT more than the idiotic comments at newegg...

I fugured as much. Well, Im out a mobo, but the good news is the PSU is still

I think the ToughPower series is the one exception

i have had my tt 480 going strong now for like 3 years...not one problem

the ocz gamerxstream are the highest recommended PSU for DFi LP mobo. I have the 600w version and it is terrific. Thermaltake is not the highest recommended and some models are knwon to have problem. Check on diy-street/forum(the site is down right now).

I had a whole bunch of random problems..narrowed it down to a hardware problem after formatting a couple times. I started taking stuff apart and discovered the burnt wires.

I used to leave my PC on 24/7, but I dont think I will from now on.

The PSU has a 5 year warranty, so I guess Im just out a motherboard.

If you want a PSU that won't break; won't burn out your motherboard, if you overload it; and can be reloomed (for more money, of course) as your power needs change, then get one from PC Power & Cooling.

There are NO PSUs better than theirs; conversely, there are lot of PSUs cheaper than theirs.
