I finally let AMD fan boys get to me.

I got the DRI UT nf4 u-d and the 3500+

Value select DDR 1 gig
XP-120 heatsink
ATI 800 XL 256 (new too)

So, Trying to get a clean copy of xp64

What am I going to need to do to let this beast rip?

Most people are staying with the 32bit windows, until the 64bit driver support gets better. I would recommend doing some research on all your hardware to see if 64bit drivers are available before going with Windows64. Also the majority of APPs don't take advantage of 64bit yet, so there isn't much need to go 64bit yet.

That combo you got should be kickin! That value ram won't O/C very well so just use a ram divider, ram speed means very little in realworld performance on A64's anyway.

Basically you just increase HTT (same as FSB on Intels) until you become unstable, then up the CPU volts to regain stability, then raise the HTT some more. Just monitor your temps during full load (Prime95 torture test) anything over 55c is getting too hot IMO, many would say 60c. That DFI board will allow insane volts, personally I wouldn't go much over 1.6v without extreme cooling.

And check out Zebos "Quck and dirty A64 O/C guide" stickied at the top of this forum, lots of good info there

heres a good place to start.

whats your PSU? you'll need a 24 pin native and its recommended 480w as well. the fortron blue storm is nice at a reasonable price.

dfi nf4s don't like value select for the most part but you should be ok at stock.

at dfi.street check the bios thread and get the 5.10-2 bios on a floppy for when you set up. it will help a lot with that ram. youwill probably want to get different sticks anyway but if thats what you have it should run.

also, the board will undervolt on you so when starting up i'd take it off auto volts and manually set what you want, like 1.4vcore +104% and 2.7v vdimm. there are a lot of bios screen shots over there that will help give you an idea.

also, you'll see the mods there are angry games and rgone, both dfi employees. somewhat fanboys but certainly knowledgeable and they have the rigs up and running to test things. they'll even take problematic boards and get them to work for people whoi struggle. not that you'll need that 😛

a bunch of AT'ers also post over there and can help alot.
good luck and if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

I'm looking to get a DFI NF4 Ultra board also. Would OCZ Platinum Rev 2 ram be a good choice? Or other recommendations? Thx

the rev2 kicks butt. if i had a better chip i could do better than my 275 @ 2.8v. some people run it 310 and up 1:1 but in fairness that was probably before they started using tcc5 instead of tccd.

either way its really good stuff. mushkins clock well to. the nice thing about dfi.street is the require any one who posts to have detailed specs in their sig so you can cherry pick alot of info and see what works.

also check out these bios screenies running different rams

Uhh...well, I encountered some setbacks

My XP120 was on my old board that did not need the brackets, etc., so I ditched it!!!

I had to order new brackets, and I also found out, even though I have a good Antec 380S, I still needed to go up some more to an OCZ Modstream 450W

Now what to do with the Cosair that I can get down to 2.5, ? , ? , 7 I think...

I just want the computer running damn it!!

I bought a Dell 2405FPW and I started to play with stuff on my system and the NV siliencer5 crapped out (screws) on my 6800, so I was like, fug it. Reformatted, etc.,

Now I just want a clean install, overclock the ram/cpu/video card right.

And I want to play a game on 5.1 in my Dell 2405fpw's 1900x1200 eye bleeding goodness!!!!

Sorry

I had to rant
