I love the features on the DFI Lan Party Expert, but it is not listed as supporting anything beyond pc3200. What's up with that? If for some reason it does not, can someone recommend to me a good overclocking board with similar great features that will support the pc4000+ types of memory?

I am building a new PC, primarily for gaming. I do this a lot, mostly when I get a new component that screams for a new build.

Most recently I picked up OCZ Platinum EB PC4000 1GB DDR 500 x 2 dirt cheap on a promotional deal. As I don't presently have a computer that will use this mem to the full capacity, I am building a new computer.

I was going to head out and buy everything this weekend but I may have to hold off I guess.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

You might find that very few (if any) boards will list compatibility for anything over DDR400, although you can usually still use it.

That's probably because there is no official pc4000 spec yet. That DFI board is supposed to be great at overclocking, so I say go for it.

RAM just is
the PC 4000 number is only a manuf rating at which the sticks will be guaranteed to run at a certain voltage

Ballistix PC3200 will run at 500
Ballistix PC4000 will run at 550

You may have to run higher voltages or lower timings

The PC numbers mean nothing - its all about possibilities - at whatever speed

You are focusing on the wrong thing
