DFI infinity nforce2 audio problems

right forum? mods please move to tech support if this isnt the place

Ok, i bought a refurb dfi infiniy from newegg (my old board broke and this was 60$) and i can't get audio to work. any suggestions or odd tricks to make audio work? Winxp finds the audo device, uses the driver from the 5.1unified driver, but outputs no audio

I`ve the same model, check in BIOS that onboard sound is enabled, sound works fine with the Nvidia drivers.

it is enabled in bios. I'm currently using a modded bios, but it didnt work with the shipping bios either. I really want to keep this board because it can go 260fsb (i'm aiming for 2.6+ghz with my mobile 2600+ on water)

Have you tried in NVMixer ,speaker wizard setup?..check you have speakers setup correctly & volume is up etc...double check your connections on the back as well.

Could be a dead(faulty)onboard audio on a refurb board, but you`ve to rule all other options out first.

nvmixer wizard... havent tried that. volume is up in windows, volume on speakers is set to max, connection is in the right port. I dont want to have to rma the board (big hassle), so ruling out other options is my plan. I have clocked the cpu to 200*10, so fsb is within specifications (for now ;evil: )

I would try the non-modded BIOS to see if it worked that way. You said you tried the shipping BIOS - did you try the updated BIOS from the DFI site? Just a suggestion. imho an OC'd rig isn't worth the loss of audio.

Just curious; if you are really into ocing, why use onboard sound which is a cpu hog compared to a good, addin card?

The hardware based Nvidia APU takes care of processing(as long as you use Nvidia drivers) so CPU usage is low even when compared to Audigy 2 etc...

um, the audio does not work even when the board is well within specifications of both the cpu and motherboard. I will rma if all other options are exhausted

In what way are you connecting your speakers to your computer? If you're using the digital output of some sort (not specifically familiar with the DFI board, I have an Abit myself), you'll need to specifically enable that in NVmixer I believe.
