DFI Boards

They are the high end of the industry.. as far as features, and overclocking are concerned. They are usually a little late to the party (products always come out after the others), but end up being one of the best.


I still waiting on the DFI 939 nf3 ultra-d AGP which has shown up on beta PCB, and is suppose to follow the their nf4 launch. They have remained steadfast that it will see the light of day, and i'm tempted to wait another month or so to see if they do indeed release it.

I just brought a 6800NU and have no urge to go to PCI-e yet.

Its getting real hard to not grab a MSI neo2 combo though...

Nope.

"Expected: 5.02.05" translates to 5th of February. I understand your mistake though.. it seems people in many countries, you too, write dates the other way around. To me (living in Finland) and to most Europeans your way is ass-backwards.. And our way is that to you. Funny little world, isn't it?

I'm waiting for this board too, have it pre-ordered. Here they say I can expect it on the 5th or 6th week of this year.

speaking of functionality.. I'd rather not be paying extra for DFI's DXG solution. SLI on the Ultra sounds ok, but i doubt future support for it, as i'm sure Nvidia will do there best to put the kabosh on it with future drivers.
all in all though the dfi is an attractive board.
 
I don't plan to use SLI, but am still looking at the DFI board. I really want to get an ASUS nf4 board, but if they dont release something soon, I don't know how long I can wait.

Thats why Im getting a gigabyte. you really shouldent say that in a forum full of modders.
 
I just want a board that is well thought out and not shoved into the market just to make a buck. You know that DFI boards are rock solid right out of the gates.

Sounds like you can mod the Ultra chip to be SLI and function 8x/8x with new and future nVidia drivers.

I for one was hoping that they wouldn't include more than one video PCI-e slot with the worry that it'd encourage price gouging, but $140-160 doesn't seem unfair at all so the potential of what the board might be able to do that I never planned on being able to tinker with makes it ever so slightly even more atractive

hmmm.. just read about the pencil mod.... i wonder if that means there is no way for nvidia drivers to discern between ultra-mod and and true SLI. I'm guessing if they can they will, in order to encourage the sale of the more expensive sli. Would be good to know for sure, but in light of this along with the DFI rep and OCing i think the price is definitely worth it.
 
Do you think you can use 20-pin PSU on this mobo, as it has 24-pin?
Somehow anandtech.com review didn't even say anything about this, and also were able to misstype quoting it has 20-pin connector.

Currently I am using Thermaltake Butterfly PurePower 480W PSU.
 
I'm thinking of switching my setup to a DFI board once they've been out for a while. My Asus is nice and all... but I like the layout, UV reactiveness, and build quality of these DFIs a lot. Asus' time to get NCQ working correctly in a new BIOS revision is getting shorter everyday 🙂

Oscar Wu is also a DFI engineer now, and he helped engineer some of the best board Abit ever produced.

It's a shame the Anandtech review failed to mention what brand(s) of capacitors were used in contructing this latest series of Lan Party boards...
 
I just read the Anandtech article "Morphing nForce4 Ultra into nForce4 SLI"

That would be a sweet deal if you could get DFI to throw in a SLI bridge so you could use that board in the SLI mode after "pencil modding" it.

I bet DFI charges $40.00 for those bridges. That would just be to good a deal if they handed out the bridges for cheap (less than 20$?)

I should sell my a8n sli 🙁 and get one of the DFI's. Then maybe I could use my Corsair TWINX1024-4400C25PT along with the 3200+ winchester to its full potential? Maybe I'll wait for the Anandtech sli comparision later this week to decide?

Using DFI NF2 Infinity Ultra as I type 😉,all I can say its rock solid and up there with the best of them,never given me any problems.

I would have no trouble buying DFI again.

Btw I should point out that DFI use 100% Japanense capacitors on their boards.
