dfDetect help request! -- SOLVED--

Insidious

Diamond Member
OK, I must be the resident idiot for DF, but I need help.
I am going to try to use dfDetect to turn off DF when I play BF1942 because I noticed
when the game unloads (once I quit) I get sent into virtual memory.
(peak commit charge is above 600M! and I only have 512M of RAM)

It isn't really a big problem because the memory unloads in a couple minutes, but the
machine is very sluggish during this time (annoying)

so I want:

DF to stop as soon as I start the game
DF to re-start 1 minute after I exit the game

My system:

WindowsXP with DF running as a service. DF is installed in C:\Distribfold
The BF1942 executable is located at C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 1942\BF1942.exe
dfGUI is started when the computer is started, so assume it is running when I start the game.

My request:

Could you post a reply to this that shows the dfDetectList.txt file I need?

My humblest thanks in advance 😀

nevermind.... I got it!

The utility worked like a champ m0ti! Well Done 😎

suggestion:

give a line in that file letting me tell it how long to wait before restarting DF after my application is closed.

Using dfDetect as is did help, but the game uses ALL available RAM during play and DF gets re-started

before it is done unloading it. So I still get a period of sluggishness after exiting the game but it is

MUCH shorter using the utility. (it might be unavoidable)

Sid, it's not a problem to add in a line for time to wait before restarting DF.

I'll do it tomorrow though, as I'm off to bed soon.
