S?

Oh yeah, S.... Service Install that is!

Thank God DF will let me do this. I've been fighting the "Block the Teenie-Boppers from Pr0n" war this past week.

Final solution has been to put the little finks on their own accounts within the super-user group so they can't install
their evil apps. while I sleep.

It did make me learn a lot about XP which is a good thing (amazing what an OS can do if you take the time to learn about it)
I only scratched the surface with accounts, security, credentials, etc. but it was interesting and (now that I'm done) staisfying too.

With the DF client installed as a service, it can crunch merrily along it's way no matter how many times the boppers boot or who is
logged in....

/me smiles at pr0n free, Kazaa free, AIM free 'pooters :D

One thing I learned from my adopted brother, you try keeping them away from p0rn... the more he tries getting it.
My sister on the other hand did not have such rules and she never got interested in it. Kinda reverse psycology.

Keep in mind... you temp people by not allowing access. Even the first book of the bible confirms it with the apple.
"You can eat all the other fruits but this one."
I am sure you know what happened.

Ahh, I did not read the entire post. I thought this was a general computer for the family. Not a dedicated DC unit.

No Kazaa, pr0n, or AIM (although I prefer Trillian)? What's the computer used for then? ;) :p

LOL

Games mostly, work if I have to.

I let him Kazaa (lite) when he needs a fillup on his MP3, and AIM when I'm around.

It's when I slept that things got ugly..... him and his gaggle of teenie-bopper budz, had a network set up where they would take turns being the one
to get the pr0n fill-up and then start DCC'ing them on AIM the rest of the night. You wouldn't believe some of the cr@p I was finding in the mornings. :Q

It just got out of hand (so much for the set them free and they will do right theory mentioned above.... OBVIOUSLY NOT A PARENT )

Anyway, the whole censorship thingy is repugnant, but my hand was forced.

oh yeah, and I do tend to fold a protien or two :D
