DF question

I would like to assimilate a couple of pc's at work, but neither of them is connected to the web. I know I can save the client on a disc, load them onto the pc's, and run the program, but is there a way to save the results on these computers for awhile? Could I then save their results to disc and download them to the server from my home computer?

I've had bad luck running DF on systems that don't have always on connections because if there is an update the results are only good for so long after the new protein is released.

That's bad news for me - I was told that DF handled dialup connections well. Anyway, is it possible to set up the client so that it doesn't ask for net connections except perhaps once or twice a day, and when it does, that it will be persistent until it gets a connection? (most programs time out while waiting for a connection to be established)

As long as you go online every other day at the least you will be fine

Yes the only problem with dial-up is when they switch proteins you have to get the results from the last protein in before the 48 hour(?) limit.

ok, that does it!

When I get some free time this century, I'll write up a queue proggie for DF.

Don't hold your breaths, though, folks. It'll probably be around January before anything will see the light of day.

Hey, sounds good. That's about the time that ECCp is estimated to be finished, anyway, so it should work out fine. 🙂

I would think that since we're off CASP5 and doing normal RMSD proteins now, it wouldn't be much of a problem since the proteins aren't switched very often.
