yes, without a large influx of new recruits, we can't really expect to play with those two (unless Rechenkraft.net slacks back, that is, if this recent surge is all borrowed/short term players from other projects)

well, i think we are doing pretty good for 36 dudes, we will get to #3 as fast as we can! :D good crunching everyone! :)

I think people are finally starting to figure out just how good a project DF is.

Ya just don't find many naysayers amoung those who have actually crunched it for a bit.

I just saw your sig FoBoT

USN huh? That is soooooo cool!

I served (USN) 1977 to 1983! and I think I remember bfour saying something about spitting a bit of saltwater out his azz too!
Bubble-head huh... were you a Nuke? what flavor?

It was Haze Grey and Underway for me. (CGN-35) I was LPO of Rx Controls division (ET-1)
Spent 2 years as staff pick-up in Idaho, so I got warned and withdrew my sub-vol before it was time to skidattle! :D

Sid, let me guess a brownshoe?JK FoBoT was a bubblehead, and I was a blackshoe! (1987-1997)

For everyone else:BROWNSHOE: Pilots
BUBBLEHEAD: Submariner
BLACKSHOE: Surface Navy

Spent all my time fixing radar and comms and fiber, 'puters etc, ET1 when I got out! Was tired of the NEW Wave politics ! Spent 4 years on CVN-71, USS Theodore Roosevelt, then 4 years at the now closed NAS Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Fl! The rest of the time was all in training!

I was a blackshoe that landed the brownshoes planes with Radar/Computer Control! Had Univac 1219's for the CPU's! 32k of memory, read from mylar tapes! Had them damn 'puters, especially when they broke! Only a couple thousand cards in them! BTW Sid, you guys had the annual ORSE exams, NO THANK YOU! Alot of the reactor guys looked like crap getting ready for the exams, and doing the 3M system too!

It was S5G where I was an instructor (a bit before your time though) 1979 to 1981

OMG.... YOU MUST SEE THIS! Can you believe I had it where I could find it?

and ... I finished my hitch in dry-dock at pudget sound.... I got drunk at the NCO club in Bangor more than once....

yes, it was Truxtun!

This is such a small world!

Ahoy maties :D

(edit)

I haven't heard that EVIL word for two decades........... PURE EVIL!

Some pronounced it Operational Reactor Safeguards Exam.... I pronounced it LOSS OF LIBERTY!

WooHoo! Another weekend and another set of speeding tickets for me! I *RULE* the speeding ticket world! Oh well, my crunching might not count toward the ATWE race but it still counts toward our overall production so that's cool. :)

Congrats to the POD's & MM'ers. Big one just round the corner for ya, eh FoBoT? :D

:D Thanks Sid & m0ti! :D

Looks like I may predate most of you in Navy service (1966-1970), but I was a PH-2 in a PhotoRecon squadron with two West-Pac tours to "Nam.

Congratulations to everyone on some great fold totals! This team is really moving up.

As a bottom dweler, I can see I've got a long way to go, but I'm already thinking of adding another machine for dedicated 24/7 daily production.

Anybody know a Don Ennis retired for a bit to raise his family in Preston Idaho. Then finally retired in Washington near one of inland sides of the bay sometime before '90. His son started in a boat doing sonar around `83'ish I guess.

One of the stories he told was of when the reactor was powered down a guy tied a diamond on a string and lowered it down into the reactor for a bit and pulled it up. The diamond had a blue tinge to it. It was for his wifes to be wedding ring.

And for some crazy reason Don mentioned multiple times wanting to go water skiing behind the periscope. Can't remember if he mentioned Hawaii or not?
