Hi Everyone,

Well we currently sit in 5th, after retaking 4th a couple of time today. They got some folds transferred in with some people, but that's alright. We're still right there with them, slightly less than 4M folds behind.

Let's give a nice big welcome to cooper76! 😀

NEWS update, howard posted this on the DF forums, seems the delay in protein change was due to him not going to work yesterday

SARS has struck Toronto (as well as many other places) quite seriously right now and the whole city is in a state of panic and paranoia. I am going to try to do the update from home and should have it ready shortly I hope.

Thanks m0ti!

and a BIG thank you to REDLY1 for that (oh, so welcome) dumpage into 'Sid' today. 😀

congratulations to the MMs and PODs today.

If anyone is bored, I'm putting a copy of a plea for help I posted in Operating Systems today.
clearly I'm clueless and would appreciate any help you can give me. I'll even name my next child after you
(I'm gonna need another one after I flog the present one who made all this necessary :| )

My computer has been single user, but now I need to add an account for another user. The problem I get into is that XP gives me two choices for account types:

1. Administrator <= not for this account because I don't want the second user to install software or make security changes.
2. Limited => Well, this one keeps the second user from installing softwareor making security changes, but the games won't work unless I change it to Administrator.. (eeerg)

So, I need help understanding how to change the permissions of the 'Limited' account to allow the software on my computer to be used, but not to allow
software installs, security changes, etc.. by the second user.

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

(Speak slowly.... I am not experienced with accounts or security stuff in XP)

Sid,

Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management.

There you've got the local users and groups option. Try reassigning the user you've created to different groups (under properties for the user). For example the guest account may have enough privileges.

You might want to create a specific user group as well (though it's not necessary).

Take the user you've created and add him to the user group you've created.

Then go to Control Pannel, admin tools, Local Security Policy.

Select Local Policies, User Rights Assignment. Assign the user to everything that's got Everyone or Guest in it. Assess the rest on a case by case basis. Things that only have Administrators assigned to it should not be allowed for your user. you may also want to examine Security Options.

Hope something of this works.

Thanks m0ti.

your suggestions got me poking around in the right places and I added him to the 'power user' group. That took care of it.
