ok im repairing a comp that somone messed up

some guy put a hacked copy of windows xp on a dell that had a coa for win home

so the people use it for 3 months then get nailed for having a non-legit os

so my goal is to slave there drive onto my comp then save there data

then reformat there hd in there computer but use there legit number for win home

But my windows explorer refuses to see there drive. In device manager the hd is there.

Ive tried all four jumper settings and cant get the computer to see it.
Its formated ntfs and in disk manager it shows as Active(healthy)

but i cant pull the contents off it

im stumped any help greatly appreciated

thanks much
