Having completed my first build about a month ago I am now having an issue that is a tad beyond my understanding.
This morning I shut down and rebooted. (something i've done many times since completing my build) Upon rebooting I BSOD'd about 6 or 7 times. I finally got windows to return and after looking in Dev Mgr I see that 2 of my ATA Channels are not well.
In Device Manager: under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
I have 6 ATA channels ATA 0 thru ATA 5
Channels 2 thru 5 are fine
Channel 0 and 1 for some reason have 3 entries for each. Meaning when you look at the list there are 3 "ATA Channel 0" and 3 "ATA Channel 1"
For eash of the 3 Chan 0 and 1 there is a yellow triangle with an ! in it. When I click and choose properties It says
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Now I believe those 2 channels are occupied by my ASUS DVD drive (DRW-2014L1T)
AND a 250gb seagate drive.
any ideas/info? any help greatly appreciated
btw. I am on this machine now, it is running and stable. I can reboot. It takes a long time to shut down.
