Device Management is running

I have an ATT HTC One and attempted to download the update to KitKat but it doesn't appear to actually be doing the download and I'm getting a message in the notification area about "Device Management is running".

When I clicked on "check for update" nothing seemed to happen and after a few minutes I tried checking for update again but it does nothing. Its possible the download was started then interrupted when the WiFi in my hotel room logged me off -- I have to log in every 24 hours and it looks like the 24 hours were up just as I started the download.

I have done a couple power off/on but still no sign of the download and still getting the device management notification.

Question: do you need to be on WiFi to download and install? What about plugged into power?

Yeah, unfortunately you'll have to wait for the next cycle when they'll allow you update again. There's a way to force it to recheck by clearing the cache from framework services (or something like that), but it will break some stuff (temporarily) so if you don't know what you're doing, you probably don't want to do this.

In the meantime, if the update did get stuck because device management is running, maybe you'd like to turn it off first? It's under Settings - Security.

It is absolutely possible that you have to do it via wi-fi, so make sure that you're connected to one the next time you tried.

Yeah, when I got back to the hotel last night and connected my HTC One to the PC (USB) it came up with the download and asked me to turn on the phones wifi so I did and after logging on the download took about 15 minutes. Then, another 10 minutes of flashing and rebooting...

So, now up to Android 4.4.2 and sense 5.5
