Hello,

Please help. I am having problems installing a " plug and play " device. It is a Dynex firewire pci card, that I installed on a Windows XP Pro. It is an Intel Pent. 4, 1.8 ghz, and 1 gig of RAM. I contacted the manufacturer, and there aren't any drivers that are downloadeable, nor did it come with a disc. Which makes sense, because it's suppose to be a " plug and play " I'm getting the big yellow queston mark in
my device manager next to the firewire card. Has anyone had similar issues ? If so, how can I resolve this ?

Thanks,

Firewireless.

What is the exact model number? Try doing a Google search or posting it here. I'll see if I can find something.

Searching Google for Dynex+dx-fc202+XP shows several people have had similar problems. Two suggestions:

1. Dynex's site lists a phone number in one of your favorite area codes -- 800-305-2204. Call their tech support people and ask for help. IIt may be an incompatiblity with the chipset in your machine or in XP. That would be the place to start looking for a fix.

2. If they can't fix it, and you can't find one anywhere else, return the card for one from another maker. Bring your laptop with you, and plug it in in the store so you know it works before you leave.

If you can't find one that works, you may have to switch to a USB solution.

Good luck. :)

Thank you for your replies. The model number is DX-FC103. I contacted support, and they told me it sounded like a configuration problem within XP ? If so, any suggestions on how to configure XP to recognize a pci firewire card ? Any suggestions on a firewire card that comes with a disc ? Or are most suppose to be a plug and play ?

Thanks again.

I'd call that lame tech support. If that's the best they can do, and they can't guide you through it to find the conflict, return it, and never buy anything by Dynex again.
