Device disconnect sound at startup.

Every time I start the computer from a shutdown, I would get the device disconnect sound once I'm logged in to my desktop. I'm on W7 64-bit and I don't know which hardware it thinks is being disconnected. How do I find out what's doing this and make the sound go away without having to completely mute the device disconnect audio?

Actually it's my laptop, which is an Asus n61 with core i7 720QM, 4GB RAM, ATI HD5730

Try running this logviewer right after hearing the sound

MyEventViewer v1.86
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/my_event_viewer.html
(there is a 64-bit version at bottom of page)

It may take a few minutes to load all the files so let it run
Then click on Time column to reverse sort (so latest events up top)

There are a bunch of other utilities that may help track it down too:
DeviceIOView v1.02
DevManView v1.27
TableTextCompare v1.05

or using Windows built-in Event viewer (probably quicker to use than above)
Start Button > Search > then type "event" and it should bring it up

example:If I plug and and unplug a USB stick it logs to Windows "System Log" Information

Does it make the sound in Safe Mode (F5/F8 on Post)? If it doesn't make the sound then try this:

1. Boot into Safe Mode (F5/F8 on Post) > Right click My Computer > Click Manage > Click Device Manager

2. Either take a picture, write down or take a mental note of everything listed in every category.

3. Boot into Normal Windows (F5/F8 on Post) > Right click My Computer > Click Manage > Click Device Manager

Compare from the hardware listed in every category between the Safe Mode boot and the normal boot. If this works then you should be able to find what hardware/device is causing the problem.

I'm just throwing a suggestion out there, whether it works or not, I don't know.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that if there are any yellow "?" or "!" listed in any of the categories then that could be causing your problem as well.

Actually, there is a yellow "!". It is under Other devices and is labeled as an Unknown device. If I click the properties, it says "00000040 and CONFIGFLAG_FAILEDINSTALL". I'm not sure what this is.
