Device disabled?

I was looking into another problem on my friends computer when I saw that in device manager his DVD-RW was disabled...not a bad install or drivers missing...just disabled. How is this fixed as I have never had this problem
 
Right click the drive in the device manager, & go to properties. Look at the general tab on the bottom & set it to enable.
 
Check in the mb bios, if not there, check the options in the dvd software he is using. Or go to Controlpanel>system>hardware>device manager>dvd/cdromdrives>propertiesyourdrive>generaltab: at bottom of page choice for enable or disable this device
