Long story short:
Some time ago I bought Hearts of Iron 3 (WW2 strategy) from Paradox - game was horribly broken at release and was never patched to the state where it wouldnt contain gamebreaking bugs.

Today they released expansion called Semper Fi (it cost 20 bucks) which promised to fix most problems.

Many of HoI3 problems are still present in Semper Fi. For example submarine warfare is still broken, Japan is always defeated by china etc.

When I posted problems I found in Paradox forums I was banned for it and all my posts were deleted, none of those posts contained even single rude word and I didnt break any forum rules, but because some admin was having power trip and didnt like my criticism I was banned.

Problem with being banned is that to access MP server you have to use your forum login which is tied to you CD key so without it you are screwed...

Well i guess the lesson is dont buy games from shitty developers/publishers. Plus i find the idea of having a forum login tied to the game login retarded.

Maybe send an email somewhere, like to technical support or something as itll likely be a different department to the one where the guy who banned you is and you may get unbanned. Blizzard unbanned my first starcraft key twice for me back in the day so although this isnt blizz its still worth a shot.

I already PMed someone - my ban is being investigated.

Even if I get my account back, they already deleted all my posts and threads on that forum - including threads in tech support subforum which helped lots of people to solve their problems - thats just rude.
 
I read that forum from time to time, especially HoI3 hoping for another patch; if you complain about the company it won't get you in trouble, just don't be rude to the developer (person/people).

My post didnt have single rude word. I just wrote 1 page about new bugs and bugs which still arent fixed and finished it with saying that I am not happy with current state of that game.

I was really surprised when 1 hour later I found out that I am banned.

Btw.: they wont be any new patch for vanilla HoI3 - for more patches you have to buy Semper Fi expansion.....
 
Similarish thing happened with cities XL and its dev monte cristo, there was a massive thread on their forum about bugs and changes they should make to the beta to make the game better, they then promptly closed the entire forum, ignored the list, and are now bankrupt and out of buisness. GG.

Guess they got their panties in a wad.

I hope 1.4 isn't the last patch for HoI3, I'm skipping on purchasing Semper Fi, because I know it'll be buggy in itself and still would like fixes on HoI3. But if they supported HoI2 for a long time, I think HoI3 will get the same treatment.
 
had not realized citiesXL had crashed so hard so fast. of course that's with a large does of told ya so, and let's hope this is a lesson to other devs after 2 idiotic lets try and bilk the publics titles of that nature have bombed.
 
Banning you from the forum restricts your ability to play MP? And you weren't rude?

I can't imagine that ban has much of a chance of standing.

There's obvioulsly no reason to go this far, but I bet it wouldn't stand up to a legal challenge, since it gimps the game you paid for.

I'm a huge fan of Paradox, and their forums. I'm on those regularly, and I've never seen ANYONE banned for no reason. They do have some basic rules for each subforum, and you may have broken one of those. Here are the rules for the HoI3 boards:

Sorry to interrupt the bash-fest, but someone has to play the Devil's Advocate here. I've done a lot of digging in Google's cache, and I've found multiple points where you broke their rules. The threads were often locked and you were told exactly why, and then you said the same thing in another thread. Here's an example:

I love this game. But I also think that game shouldnt have gamebreaking bugs before you start charging for expansions (Yes, I am spoiled by Valve).

I will buy SF as soon as its released at Steam. I am also willing to buy future expansions and games from Paradox, but it need to be less buggy and combat simulation need to be more reallistic (which would currently affect performance, but if HoI3 supported multicore CPUs it wouldnt be problem IMO).

Oh and I (and many others) would like to have casualty stats

Each time you bring up casualty stats, the moderators come along and tell you to NOT DO IT. That is against their rules. And then you do it again. Please stop acting like the moderators are going on some "power trip." Frankly, I find it offensive.

Further, you aren't always as nice as you would have us think. There was a point in time (I can't get the quote because I've opened up enough caches now that google thinks I'm a bot) where you explicitly told somebody to "STFU" because you disagreed with them.

For discussing casualty stats (which happened some time ago) I didnt even recieve infraction (whose of us who posted about it simply recieved PM not to discuss it) - btw casualty stats are normal part of Arsenal of Democracy (expansion to HoI2).

You dont hear about banned members there because when they ban you all your threads and posts in entire forum are deleted - just like if you never existed.

Yes I posted this on 5 forums because I am very angry at Paradox. I spent nice ammount of € on games which were registered to that account.

1. their "german" version dont have Hitler, Goring etc and those who have german version cant play MP with people who have normal version unless they mod game.

2. Any discusion about numbers of casualties (even in individual battle) is not tolerated - this include requests for game to track numbers of destroyed enemy planes, tanks etc.

Political correctness have higher priority than wishes of most of their users.

Posting about stats happened some time ago and have no connection to my ban. I didnt even recieve infraction for posting about stats (and if they banned everyone who ever broke some rule there would be almost no1 in that forum).
