Devastating Earthquake Hits Nepal

I heard around 1400 and rising...not counting the people who died on the Himalayas (10 so far) from avalanches caused by the quake..

I felt it. I was working on my computer when all of a sudden my chair started shaking violently. The monitor shook, and almost fell off the table.

Thankfully no damages to life or property occurred. My sincere thoughts go out to the people in Nepal.

Little brown-skinned people dying on the other side of the world. Who cares?

Post up about Comcast raising rates, or Jennifer Aniston having plastic surgery and watch the hundreds of replies.

I didn't realize forum members were required to live in here 24 hours a day or come rushing to the forum whenever a disaster occurs.

I made a donation to the Red Cross.

What have you done other than piss and moan about people not posting on a Saturday night?

My condolences to the people of Nepal.

I suspect the topic has few replies because there's nothing controversial. It should be common for us all to wish them well in their rescue and recovery.

Don't know why I thought of the movie The Golden Child when I saw the name Nepal. .

Anyway my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims.

Clueless.

Yeah, we get it. The reason people have not flocked to this thread is due to racism. Good to know the majority of the forum are racist rather than having lives and normally posting on weekdays.

You still didn't answer my question. What have you actually done rather than piss/moan accuse people of being racist for not posting in this thread on a Saturday night?

Seems the earth getting pissed off.

Few Volcanoes going off lately, I 'm still waiting on the big one in Yellowstone to blow up and California slide in to the Pacific 😛

Funny how that works, isn't it?

inf1nity, how far are you from Mt. Everest? Did you feel any of the aftershocks, like the 6.7 in Kathmandu?

Death toll up over 2,000.

Quite far, thankfully. I live in a city in Northern India; around 600 kilometres from the epicentre of the earthquake.

Felt 3 moderate strength tremors on two consecutive days. Thankfully no injury or property damage.

Update from Kathmandu. I've not gone visiting the rest of the city, but the area I am in wasn't too badly affected. Many free standing brick walls have collapsed. Most houses I have seen are not too badly damaged, just cracks and loose bricks. Concrete seems to have coped better than bricks. The roads in places have sunk but are not impassable. Further north in the city I have heard reports that things are a lot worse with the houses being older and closer together. Thamel (tourist central) was badly damaged and many tourists have been trying to get out via the airport.

I'll try and update when I can.
