Deus X: Human Revolution-Steam digital install freezing while playing

I have the Deus X Human Revolution installed on a new machine. Windows 7, Ivy bridge, all bios, drivers and windows up to date. Video card Radeon 6950. Nothing overclocked.

The game freezes quite often. When this happens I can still hear sounds like me firing a gun but the video is frozen. I have to use task manager to kill Deus X HR. Then restart.

Slight "tearing" a couple of times at fast turns/high action otherwise no issue. Played other games with zero isse.

Disabled antivirus and other fixes that I read about online.

Instaledl on my hard disk other than my "c" (OS installed) drive.

Any ideas or fix?

Just which video drivers are you using ? The beta, or the last WHQL ones ?

Regular Catalyst 12.8 WHQL version. I guess I could uninstall and reinstall?

Run the Steam validation tool and see if there are any corrupt files. Is this the only game you're having issues with?

To elaborate,

1) Right-click on the game in your Steam library

2) Properties

3) Local Files tab

4) Verify Integrity of Game Cache

If that doesn't fix it, then I would look into doing a clean uninstall/re-install of your video drivers using Driver Fusion.
