when you start the game, you have enough skill points to give denton 2 or 3 skill upgrades. i personally gave one to the handgun, one to computers and one to security stuff, which seems like a reasonable distribution to be effective early on. while this works fine for the most part, the handgun accuracy is embarrassingly bad for a "highly trained agent". you have to wait SEVERAL SECONDS for the aiming cursor to lock on fully (to give you a decent chance of hitting someone beyond point blank range), which IMO is totally unreasonable. and even then, he'll still miss because the accuracy of your handgun is like 70%. and if you dare move, the cursor becomes totally inaccurate and you couldn't hit the ground if you tried.
fortunately, it only takes 1 or 2 missions before you can collect enough skill points to upgrade the gun ability one more point to where it becomes more acceptable. moreover, 1 head shot or a couple body shots are typically lethal to unarmored opponents, so you don't need to be perfectly accurate to still be effective.
this game, even with the dated graphics, is still a blast to play. it's not perfect, as the voice acting and immersion of the game could be a bit better (especially denton himself, who is super monotone) but the gameplay is simply unrivaled.
