i really think so.
i am about 3/4 way through the game and it IS better than the original.
How many of you just dropped the game because of it's "unplayability"?
Patch 1.2 addresses most of the crashing problems - it will still exit to desktop about every 2 hours but runs smoothly on my 3.3Ghz P4/9800xt/1gb PC3500 - 10x7; all details hi; bloom 'on' and 2xAA (NO vsynch) and some AF.
looks beautiful and . . . BEST OF ALL . . .
the STORY is GREAT . . . it covers the original game and is a "true" sequel (with ALL of the gameplay intact).
there is also smaller maps; more LOGIC to the (pointless) "running around" of the original and less 'apparant linearity'.
the ONLY problem i can see is that is STARTS so damn slow and is hard to 'get into' (like the original).

My friend said almost the same thing. At first he was apalled, but when he played it again a few months later, he thought it was pretty good (once he got far enough into the game that the acting didn't physically hurt his ears). It's really too bad they didn't get the first part of the game right, or it might have been a classic. I guess a crappy beginning can just sink a title.
