The lighting definitely seems tweaked and more dynamic. It was most obvious when riding the elevator and Pritchard walking in.

I'm enjoying the replay. The lighting change is noticeable, and maybe it's just me, but it seems like the random people have much more detailed and interesting dialog.

May have to try it out, tho I'm grumbling at the nickel and diming -- already own it on PS3 and Steam and now have to rebuy it a 3rd time?? Maybe I'll wait and see, prolly come free with the next DX anyways...

So I did the first boss battle and was like wtf where were all the changes. So after I killed him I looked around and wondered where does that ladder go? Zomg whats in this garage, man this would have been so much easier if I used this stuff.

I'm a huge DX fan, even liked IW, so for 10 bucks to get another play through? I'll likely do it.

I remember a large wave of discontent with this game because of the in-game advertising that was rampant in it.

I'll pass because of this...

Exactly.

Just started playing again last night...can't remember anything from my first playthrough except for little things here and there.

Was using my tranq dart, the other enemies in the area heard the guy scream since he saw me before I hit him. They came to investigate and one actually shot me...so I picked up his pistol after I tranqued him (he fell against the wall and slumped down. Great animations in this game) I shot him in the head with his own pistol.

Fun game :)

It was a big deal when the game first came out. The Eidos message boards nearly melted down from all the complaints. I haven't played it since '11 so I don't know if the ads are still in-game or not.

I've never noticed any "real" ads in game and I've played it through twice.

It's only $5 if you own the Steam version and already have the DLC, hardly akin to rebuying the game all over. You have to pay $10 if you don't have the DLC, but then you're getting the DLC.

If there was any in-game advertising it was hardly noticeable to me. If you're going around a city like Detroit it would be less believable if there weren't billboards here and there with advertisements, it adds a little more to the immersion. And putting the publisher's own name on a billboard in-game hardly seems like "rampant advertising".

I definitely never saw anything like a real-world Star Wars ad on a loading screen, and I bought the game on release day.

They took down the store page for the non-Director's Cut edition after releasing the DC, so no, Steam no longer sells the non-DC edition of the game.

i've read in the steam forums people saying that the textures are really messed up in the DC version, and that other visual features are not there anymore, but that lightning and characteres do look better

some people were saying that the DC version is in fact the WIIU version ported to pc, instead of impoving upon the PC base game

i was kinda excited about it but after reading that im kinda dissapointed, need to research more

I had texture problems, updated Nvidia drivers fixed my issues. The boxes and some of the hallway floor textures just looked like grainy crap when it happened to me. I run a 460 and was using drivers from last year when I had problems.

I would get it but don't play it until they release a patch. Here are some common issues with the game as it is.
http://steamcommunity.com/app/238010/discussions/0/810939350891608249/

From what I have read and noticed myself it seems like they took the 1.0 version of the game, threw in DLC's, redid it for Wii U, and then ported it to PC.

It has issues with DX11 like the original did when it first came to PC.

This might help. Haven't tried it myself. http://steamcommunity.com/app/238010/discussions/0/810939351293168229/

Yeah I played the DC for only 10 minutes and it was already showing signs of shoddiness and bugs. The music for the walk at the beginning glitched, and the stuttering issues which were patched out of the original game seem to be back with the Director's Cut. I don't feel like playing it until it gets patched.

Reading about these problems reminds me of the Divine Divinity re master, where the partially patched game was accidentally used as the base for the re master, reintroducing issues that were fixed years ago. In this case, I believe the DC was again outsourced to Nixxes for the PC version, so it's seems easier for something like this to happen.
