the game keeps crashing out when i reach a part of the level where i have to load (ie. hallways, elevators) then i get a message saying "General protection fault" anybody know how i fix this. thanks

check for a game patch and update your video card drivers. That's all I can think of right now. If not, backup your savegames and re-install.

How does this game work with W2K? I've tried a few times and have had some strange results like the game moving in slow motion. I wasn't sure if it supports W2K or not. Just curious. Thanks 🙂

I installed 2k on my friends sys and then put Deus Ex on it, ran great. Then I put Deus Ex on my comp in 2k, runs slow as heck. Like getting massive vid lag. Which is crazy on my vid card. If you're just using 2k I suggest dual booting 98 on like a 2 gig FAT32 partitiom just for gaming.

I had similar problems when I ran out of hard disk space and it was loading. I cleared about 1 gig of stuff to make sure it would not happen again.

If your using a TNT\TNT2\Geforce, try turn down the textures and the other setting (can't remember what it was, but it's a graphics setting)... Set them both to low...

My brother had the exact same problem in one particular spot... Every time he would try to enter an spot where the game would "save" and "Load", the game would crash with a GPF.

Finally, he just started all his games from scratch (deleted all saved games). That cured it.

We think what happened is that he did a couple of things "out of order." In that particular level, he was supposed to first get some sort of vaccine or virus and then free some hostages at the subway. The first time, he first freed the hostages and then got the vaccine/virus. By restarting the level and doing it right, the problem was solved.

It seems to me that the game does not like adjustments of plot. A sign of poor development in my opinion. (Don't get me wrong, it has a good plot and nice graphics. Just not very "idiot proof".)

P.S. We tried reinstalling, uninstalling and installing, turning graphics mode to software, and playing with detail/sound settings. This was the only thing that worked.

Dont even bother with Eidos tech help-their useless. I had a deus ex problem 2 months ago-i emailed them 3 times-never heard a peep from them. Heck I cant even register at their BBS-I never got approval from the webmaster(I registered over 6 months ago+ I emailed the webmaster as well to see what was going on-again not a word from them).
