Ive saved that person from that faction, in that place in north africa, that moses was from. Now in the area after that area. Where that character wants me to collect something for him from a old abandoned building that was in the first.

Phew!.
Its very hard to describe where im upto without giving away spoilers!!!

Right click, select properties and uncheck read only

Then change the value for MouseLagThreshold=75 in the System.ini

Change this value to 0 for best results and then bye bye to that damn crappy mouse accel so you can enjoy this game.

Hope this helps some people

Thanks, but I can nto find that file. I have even gone to searching for *.ini in my Deus-EX folder and it does nto show. I knwo the user.ini thta I needed to adjust when I played the demo was in a completely different folder, the "My Documents" one, but it does nto appear there either. Sorry I am too dumb to figure this out, can anyone help?

hi,
in the retail game the file is:

default.ini

it is in
C:\Program Files\Deus Ex - Invisible War\System
this has the configurable settings

BUT>>>>>

download and install the patch with the link given before. this changes the settings in the default.ini to the apropriate pc ones. and it runs much better for me.
good luck

Patch seems to have made it more playable, but now you can't move things in your inventory - right-click doesn't work and you can't drag anymore.

Too bad, cuz I liked the first one a lot and WAS looking forward to this, but it's too broken and bunged up to bother with. :(

Thats cos they`ve changed the way the interface works. Read the readme!!!
Click on where you want to move to something, then right click on what you want moving there, it`ll then swap.

So after the patch, what do you folks think?

I am rebuilding my main rig around an ati card just to play this: xp1700+@2352, 9500 pro. The original game rocked my world; I'm not expecting that again but

How does it play and how is the actual game story?

Should be ok at 1024x768.
The game isnt as bad as most sheep make out.
If you ignore their nitpickings and get used to the new (and in my opinion, better) interface, then you`ll find a very enjoyable game there.
The storys roughly on par with the original, conspiracy wise.
The only niggle is that its a bit on the short side (10 hours average).

Note;
Sheep= People who havnt actually played the game, and are just repeating the comments of a few that have, and/or have played the game, and are still repeating the comments of others, and are too blind/bias to see what a good game it is.

I like it so far. I've played for a little over 10 hours, replaying certain areas and such. The patch helped a bit and so did reading some of the official forum discussions on performance issues. DX1 was a performance dog when it was released if anyone can remember back that far (1999). DX2 has the same quirky feeling, only it looks a lot better. Considering the new technology that they're using I think it performs well.

The main thing that's going through my head is that this is a small preview of what to expect with Theif III. When they add the self shadows and refine the vaulting & climbing this will be an amazing game. My main disappointment is with the very placid ai. If they could get H&D2 enemy ai into DX2 you'd have one scary game.

Yeah, I agree. I enjoyed the heck outta DX1, but the Thief series was just soooo immersive. I remember turning my speakers up as loud as I could handle, sitting there, barely breathing, listening intently for that guard to inch closer, stop and pivot, and turn around so I could blackjack his thick skull. Fun missions, good story, and nice goals for different difficulty levels.

One of my complaints about DX2 (and I'm still in the early stages of the game I think) is that it just doesn't feel like my actions do anything to the world around me or those in it. I felt that a little with KOTOR too, but at least you had some freedom to be dark if you wanted, or kill someone and not have them join your party, etc. However, I still would have preferred it to be more like Baldurs Gate in that if you have Light side party memebers, but repeatedly did Dark Side stuff, that they would do more than just give you a tongue-lashing, and vice versa for the Dark party members.

In DX1, I felt that I actually made a difference in the story I uncovered. Which sides I played against each other, etc. In DX2, I don't get that. I think they're all a buncha idiots. The closest you can come to really affecting those around you is whacking the Omar merchants and then having them not sell their highly-overpriced Sharper Image catalog items to you.

But, I am enjoying it. It's just there's a lot of areas that stick out as places that could use a good overhaul. And that's distracting at times.

They did a piss poor job of porting this from xbox to pc. I have a 9800 pro and I am having problems. There are these little black dots that appear when I move around sometimes, or when I watch someone talk. Only played it for a couple minutes. Guess I will have to get rid of it, this game is only dx8 based isn't it? So whats with the way it runs?

It's a system hog for sure, but that's what you get with new technology.

The black dot issue is related to bloom and multisample, turn one off. I'd also suggest that you totally turn off AA and AF under DirectX graphic settings. I have a 9800 Pro also.

Only 10 hours.. ick .. maybe I shouldn't hold off for a graphics card upgrade to play it. Might as well just get it over with :p
