congrats to the stars. they just had more energy and kept fighting for the loose pucks and such. ducks just stopped attacking after they got the 1st goal and then tried to turn it back on in the final minutes. such a disappointing way to end the season.

Wings vs Avs/Flames

One thing concerns me. Ozzy faced like 30 shots total in the two games he was in. Usually he faces that much in a game. Do you think this could be an achilles heel that the Avs/Flames could exploit (peppering Ozzy with 20+ shots/period)? Or do you think the strength of the Wings forwards to push the puck up ice will keep these teams honest?

As long as the Sharks don't choke on Tuesday, the Stars will be facing another division rival. 😉
 
The 7th match approaches between the Montreal Canadians and the Boston Bruins, two historic/natural rivals to that. And it is the first time in the history of the Montreal's Bell Center that a 7th match during a series is played, nice coincidence that it had to be against their greatest foe! Statistically speaking the Montreal Canadians should not have suffered that much lately, and they should have won in four or five matches, no one expected such a come back from the Bruins, they're playing fairly well.

On the eastern side the Habs Vs. Bruins is my favorite right now (not only because I myself live in Montreal but because the Habs and Bruins rivalry has always been part of my family's discussions when it came to NHL stuff). On the western part I am closely following the progression of the Red Wings.

I can't decide if I want Calgary to win so we can play Dallas, or San Jose so we play Detroit. The next series is going to be tough either way for the Avs. For now I'm going to root for Calgary because I think they deserve it.
 
If I heard correctly, the STARS will have home ice vs the Avs. To be honest, I don't think home ice means much for the STARS.. they're more of a matchup-type team, hence the 2 wins in Anaheim. I don't have a good feeling about playing the Avs, but so far the STARS have found a way to win even when I doubted, so we'll see.

Man, as long as Theodore continues to play like he has, it isn't going to matter who the Avs play...he can shut down anyone if he plays like he did in the first round. Now that it isn't my team he's shutting down, it'll be fun to watch him in the next round.
 
OK, I am back. (Work / Vacation-related hiatus)

I'm glad that Osgood is in net
I'm glad that the Wings have played physical playoff hockey
I'm glad that the Wings D has helped control the game and shut down Nashville
I'm glad that the Ducks are out (BTW, fifth year in a row that the defending champs have lost in the first round)
I'm glad that the Sharks / Flames series is going seven while the Wings are chillin and resting up.
I'm glad that Anaheim is out
I'm glad Dan Ellis is out

I'm interested in our next opponent. I don't mind the Flames or the Avs. I think that the Avs is the best from a public interest point of view. Theodore has been great and the words "Wings vs. Avs" is enough to get the casual fan interested.

I can't wait for tonight and tomorrow. The playoffs have been great so far!

Oh yeah the Habs are doing it! They're doing it! 3-0 for now. If they win, they'll definitely earn it.
 
I'm going to start a thread within a thread, because I heard an interesting discussion on talk radio and was surprised by the subject.


Should Chris Osgood be in the Hockey Hall of Fame?


My first reaction was, "of course not." But, he is number 11 on the all-time win list. His career goals against average compares favorably with everyone that's in the Hall. He's won a Cup.


When I think of Hall worthy goaltenders, I think of Dom or Patricia Roy not Osgood.

And the only reason i will is because I'm a Mike Modano fan...always have been...always will be. If he no longer played there, i wouldn't cheer for the Stars, ever.
 
I don't think Ozzie is a HOF goaltender. I don't have a reason why.
